🧸 It’s time to bring Beary’s Special Friends back. ❤️
Some of you may remember Beary’s Special Friends of Delaware. For those who don’t, I’d love to tell you how it all began.
Many years ago, on Christmas Eve, my five-year-old niece spotted a teddy bear sitting in my home office.
“What’s his name?”
I had no answer prepared, so I quickly said, “Beary Christmas!” 🧸🎄
She fell in love with him.
Beary went home with her that night. He opened Christmas presents with her the next morning. He had breakfast with the family. He went everywhere with her.
When Christmas Day was ending, she was heartbroken at the thought of leaving him behind.
So Beary became hers.
Years later, she was performing in a school Christmas program called Beary’s Christmas. She wanted Beary there to watch her. I brought him, and when she walked onto that stage, I held him up where she could see him.
Her face lit up. ❤️
That little five-year-old girl is 23 years old now.
And she still has Beary.
That little bear taught me something I’ve never forgotten:
Sometimes a teddy bear isn’t just a toy.
Sometimes it’s comfort.
Sometimes it’s security.
Sometimes it’s a friend to hold when someone you love can’t be there.
And that’s why Beary’s Special Friends means so much to me.
I’m excited—and a little emotional—to say that I’m bringing Beary’s Special Friends back. 🥹🧸❤️
Our mission is to provide teddy bears to children in military families and children entering or living in foster care, giving them a soft friend to hug through some of life’s difficult moments.
Over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing more about Beary’s Special Friends, our mission, and how you can help us put a Beary into the arms of a child who needs one.
Because every child deserves someone to hug. ❤️
