Clarkson University's RiverU, a collaboration between Beacon Institute for Rivers and Estuaries (a subsidiary of Clarkson) and the Hudson River Sloop Clearwater, is for any college or highly motivated high school student with an interest in the environment. Define and direct your academic and future career paths by connecting with professionals in the workplace through course-related field trips,
while gaining valuable science, engineering and policy credits over the summer. RiverU is:
Ecology, environmental engineering and policy in real-world context;
Discovering connections to environmental issues through extensive field work;
Understanding accelerated with hands-on learning;
Career day with experts and professionals in related fields. RiverU classes are held at Beacon Institute’s Center for Environmental Innovation and Education on historic Denning’s Point in Beacon, NY, with three days of experiential learning aboard the Sloop Clearwater. Residential students will enjoy safe, high-quality, modern campus dormitory housing and parking at a nearby college. Double (and a few single) occupancy rooms are available with many campus amenities. Breakfast and lunch during the program are included in the residential and commuter dining fee. Program transportation is provided for group trips.
