📚 Read-a-Thon Update – Let’s Keep the Momentum Going! 📚
We are currently in Week 2 of our Read-a-Thon (March 2–16), and our Laurel Ledge readers are off to an incredible start! So far, students have logged 7,821 minutes of reading and raised $19,703.71, with $14,777.78 directly supporting our PTO. Amazing work by our students and families! 👏
Our goal is to beat last year’s totals: we raised $23,165.01, and the PTO earned $18,048. We’re getting close—but we need everyone’s help to cross the finish line strong! One of the best ways to support your reader is by sharing their fundraising page with friends and family. Every share helps spread the word and support our school.
🏆 Prizes & Friendly Competition
Just like last year, students and classes will have opportunities to earn prizes:
• Top 3 readers in each grade (by minutes read):
🥇 1st Place – $100 Urban Air gift card
🥈 2nd Place – $50 Dave & Buster’s gift card
🥉 3rd Place – $25 to spend at the Book Fair
• Top 2 classes with the most reading minutes will earn a class party, and the 3rd place class will receive an extra recess!
• Students can also earn prizes through milestone achievements such as reaching reading goals, raising funds, sharing on social media, or texting supporters. Our Prize Shop will be set up in the science room this year so students can redeem their rewards.
💡 We Need Your Help!
Our incredible Read-a-Thon Coordinator, Sara Glovna, is seeking 1–2 assistants to support this important event. This is the PTO’s largest fundraiser of the year, and a little extra help will make a big difference!
Assistants may help with:
• Planning class celebration parties
• Organizing student reading and fundraising data after the event
• Brainstorming ideas for next year
If you’re interested in helping in any capacity, please email Mrs. Murzak at [email protected].
Thank you for supporting our readers and helping make this event such a success. Let’s keep the pages turning and finish strong! 📖✨
