The Gathering Place supports, educates and empowers people currently coping with a cancer diagnosis.

The Gathering Place’s mission is to provide a caring community that supports, educates and empowers individuals and families currently coping with the impact of cancer through programs and services provided free of charge. Located in Cleveland, OH, The Gathering Place reaches individuals wherever they are on their cancer journey with services designed to complement traditional cancer care by addre

ssing the mind, body and spirit through weekly and monthly support groups, educational lectures, healthy lifestyle classes and other events. Since its inception in 2000, the organization has helped more than 47,000 individuals coping with cancer through more than 371,000 visits. The Gathering Place is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization funded by the generous donations from individuals, businesses, foundations and special events. Join us at The Cleveland Dragon Boat Festival on Saturday, August 29th!

The TGP DragonFlys Dragon Boat team will be competing - come cheer them on 💜

The team is made up of participants currently going through treatment, those who have completed treatment, as well as some caregivers. They have have worked hard and had fun over the course of training for the past 2 months, and are they are excited to race on August 29th!

Held at Merwin's Wharf, 1785 Merwin Ave, Cleveland, OH. Opening ceremony at 8:20am, awards around 3pm.

Ten-year-old Kinley Macknin has transformed her family’s experience with cancer into a meaningful gift for others: a new Little Free Library at The Gathering Place Beachwood location.

Through reaching out to friends and family, Kinley raised enough money to make the Little Library a reality. She worked alongside her father, Jonathan, to build the library, install it and fill it with books.

The Gathering Place recently celebrated her donation with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Kinley’s family, friends, neighbors, and The Gathering Place staff and volunteers.

Kinley said she was inspired by the idea of placing a library somewhere calm and peaceful, a description she felt fit The Gathering Place perfectly.

Thank you Kinley for your dedication and generosity!

A huge thank you to the students of the Styled Profile Barber & Beauty Summer Camp who hand-made and donated over 20 wigs to The Gathering Place💜

Ranging in ages from 9-14 years old, the students spent a week learning about and making the wigs.

In addition, the students used a lot of patience and discipline when making these wigs, and the amount of detail is incredible. Each wig came in a silk bag, with instructions on how to care for the wig.

The students came to The Gathering Place office to donate the wigs, to get a tour of the wig salon, and for a celebration of their accomplishments.

The Styled Profile Barber & Beauty Summer Camp offers 8 one-week sessions, where students learn about haircutting, barbering, braiding, nails, and more. Throughout the camp, there is a large emphasis on service and giving back to the community. In addition to summer camps, Styled Profile Barber & Beauty also offers classes year-round for youth who are interested in exploring the beauty industry.

Join us at a virtual meet & greet on Thursday, August 20, at 5:30pm via Zoom to learn more, ask questions, and get involved with The Gathering Place.

The Gathering Place is a cancer support organization that provides free programs and services to anyone impacted by cancer, as well as those who have experienced the death of a loved one due to cancer, and helps ensure that no one has to face cancer alone.

Through fundraising and volunteering, The Rising Leaders Council meaningfully supports the work of The Gathering Place.

Joining the Rising Leaders Council is a great opportunity for young professionals to give back to the community, network, develop leadership skills, and meaningfully support a local non-profit.

Join us at The Confidence Collective: Boldly HER Event for a day of encouragement, wellness, education, and connection for those navigating a cancer journey.

The Gathering Place is thrilled to be partnering with My Sister's Keeper, Black Women Fighting Cancer, Thrive, and Noire Medspa for this collaborative event.

This free event is open to anyone impacted by cancer, including individuals currently navigating a diagnosis, caregivers, survivors, and anyone interested in supporting or learning more about the participating organizations.
Attendees at this interactive event will receive a complimentary consultation from Noire Medspa. Light refreshments will be provided.

We are committed to making support easier to access by bringing our free support programs and services directly to neighborhood locations such as community centers, libraries, rec centers, faith communities and churches, and health fairs.

We provide free cancer support, education, wellness programs, wig services, and helpful resources, as well as a variety of free programs on stress management, movement during and after treatment, and self-advocacy in healthcare.
