We had a GREAT One World Day in in the Cultural Gardens in Cleveland yesterday. Thanks to French Honorary Consul Cedric Le Rouge and our volunteers who joined us in the Parade of Flags and afterward in the French Garden. We were delighted to host an Indian dance group and troupe of young Ukrainian performers.

Happy “Bastille Day” from the French Educational and Cultural French-American Chamber of Commerce of Ohio and the French Education and Cultural (FEAC) Foundation of Ohio. The Fourth of July and the 14th of July are National Holidays for the USA and France, friends in building democracy from its very beginning!! Let’s celebrate that friendship!

The French-American community in Cleveland had a wonderful Bastille Day celebration today at Dunham Tavern Museum and Gardens, which has been welcoming visitors to Cleveland since 1824 (originally welcoming stagecoach travelers!). We are very grateful for all who helped us celebrate America’s 250th birthday and America’s very important friendship with France for more than 250 years!! Thanks to Honorary Consul Cedric Le Rouge, board members from the French American Chamber of Commerce - Ohio Chapter and the Educational and Cultural Foundation of Ohio, and our friends from the Maison Française de Cleveland. The event raised funds for the French Cultural Garden project in Cleveland.

The members of our French Culinary community contributed significantly to the success of the event by their presence, hard work, and generous donation of items for our silent auction. Special thanks to Chef Bob Sferra of Sophie La Gourmande who catered the event, Kandice Marchant of Marchant Manor Cheese (who supplied her delicious Ohio-made cheeses and charcuterie…and a gift certificate), and Denise Kramer of L'albatros Brasserie + Bar

Other CLE French Culinary Community members who contributed to the special auction include

Brewella's Coffee, Crepes & Collectibles,
Sweet Designs Chocolatier, Mitchell's Fine Chocolates, -USA (distributor of Remy Martin and Cointreau), and Gingham Market.

We take seriously the educational mission of the French Cultural Garden that we are building in Cleveland. Today, on a beautiful spring morning, we were delighted to welcome small groups of students from Shaker Heights High School, who were on a field trip to learn about the Cleveland Cultural Gardens Federation. In a very short time, one of the members of our French Culinary community, Chef Kevin O’Connell and his team at La Ville Lumière and Le Marche market have established themselves as one of Cleveland’s finest restaurants. La Ville had an event last night to introduce their summer menu, including some new cocktails, delicious appetizers and main plates. In his remarks to the gathering, Chef Kevin spoke of his vision, that La Ville is an experience of fine dining in a relaxed, comfortable setting. In addition to the food, the decor and the service are impeccable. Treat yourself and your friends a to delicious visit soon!
