In 1985 the Campbell and Richmond families conceived the idea of a homeowners group. The purpose was to implement repairs and protect and enrich the environment. Members would be dedicated to the betterment of the neighborhood and concerned with the ecology. A non-political viewpoint would be maintained to adopt whatever was best for the community. Initially 20 members joined the association.

The Berkeley Shores Civic Association was deeply saddened to learn of the recent tragedy at Grits and Grace in Bayville. Many of our members have enjoyed this wonderful local restaurant over the years, and we extend our heartfelt support as they begin the process of rebuilding.
