Auxiliary members of VFW Post 9503 Bayville together with their families had a great and heart touching day today at Brigadier General William C Coyle Memorial Cemetery participating with Wreaths Across America . Remembering our Promise to Never Forget Our Veterans. It was nice to run into other Posts and Auxiliary Members also there to keep that promise. God Bless our Veterans 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

This week members of our auxiliary delivered gifts to the three veterans memorial nursing homes throughout the state. On Tuesday we delivered to Paramus and Menlo Park and on Thursday we delivered to Vineland. Among the items delivered were 6 televisions for resident rooms per home, super ear amplifying headphones, calming sound machines, razors for helping our veterans look their best, comfortable clothing, games, puzzle books, along with more things than we could name.

Despite the thanks that they offer every time we deliver, we gain more than they do. In practical things like the knowledge that if you write in red pen the copy will be darker. In the warmth of heart knowing someone will sleep more calmly. In the sharing of travel stories with a veteran no longer able to travel.

Thank you to the nursing homes for allowing us to visit!

The VFW Auxiliary offers cancer grants to members who are battling cancer.

Eligibility requirements:
• Applicant must be a member of the VFW Auxiliary for one (1) full year.
• Current dues must be paid before applying for a cancer grant.
• After twelve (12) months have passed from date of diagnosis or last treatment, application will not be accepted.
• A member is allowed two (2) grants during their lifetime. Twelve (12) months must elapse between new diagnosis and/or treatment from date of first grant for a second application to be considered. Continuous treatment which lasts beyond the twelve (12) month period will qualify for a second grant.
• Application will be rejected if member has been deceased for longer than 30 days.

The grant amount is currently $550.00 and funds are paid directly to the member or, in the case of a deceased member, to their estate. Funds are dispersed 2-4 weeks following the acceptance and approval of the completed and signed application. Click here for the most up-to-date application: http://bit.ly/2wvbhyJ.

Today's Auxiliary in Action is Auxiliary 9503 in New Jersey!

Earlier this month, the Auxiliary honored the winners of the Illustrating America contest. Each received a small scholarship and an art kit so they can enter again next year. They write, "Our winners in the (grades K-2) and (grades 6-8) categories won their divisions on the state level and are off to the National Convention for judging. Stay tuned to see if we have National winners from right here at home!"

They added their congratulations to all winners and "A heartfelt thank you to Dana Pitts for all of her hard work on this challenging program."

Last night our Auxiliary honored the winners of our Young Patriotic Art Contest. The winners received a small scholarship and an art kit so they can enter again next year. Our winners in the Kindergarten through 2nd Grade and the 6th through 8th Grade categories won their divisions on the state level and are off to the National Convention for judging. Today our auxiliary participated in the local Green Acres program and cleaned up this area in front of Veterans Park. The town employee says this is the best job he's ever seen done! Thanks members!
