The GCCISD Education Foundation celebrated ribbon cuttings this week at Carver Elementary and Ashbel Smith Elementary for their new Book Nook vending machines. Because of the generous support of Joe V’s Smart Shop and Superior Text, both campuses will receive three years of book restocks and hundreds of opportunities for students to earn books of their own.

Thank you to our community partners for helping us inspire a love of reading across Goose Creek CISD.

Last night, we celebrated the heart of education.

At the Goose Creek CISD Education Foundation’s 16th annual Students’ Choice Awards, graduating seniors honored the teachers who made a lasting impact on their lives. These awards recognize the encouragement, belief, and guidance that shape futures far beyond the classroom.

Congratulations to this year’s honored educators and to the seniors who reminded us why this work matters.

Race to 950 at IMPACT Early College High School

Thanks to an Innovative Teaching Grant, students at IMPACT Early College High School received targeted support to strengthen their readiness for the TSI exam and build the foundation they need for college level success.

Through the Race to 950 project, students used high quality prep materials, practiced test taking strategies, identified their strengths and areas for growth, and worked through personalized support to improve their reading, writing, and math skills. The goal was simple and powerful to help students meet and exceed the TSI benchmark so they can access college credit courses with confidence.

We are proud to support programs that strengthen college and career readiness and open new opportunities for students to pursue their future goals.

Student Podcast: Finding Student Voice Through Creativity and Connection

Thanks to an Innovative Teaching Grant, students are now producing their own podcast, giving them a powerful platform to share stories, interview staff, highlight campus events, and express what matters most to them.

This project strengthens writing, speaking, editing, collaboration, and real world communication skills. Students learn to plan, script, revise, record, and publish episodes using professional equipment including MacBook Air laptops, microphones, and audio production tools. The experience builds confidence, community pride, and meaningful connections between students, their school, and their families.

We are proud to support creative projects that elevate student voice and empower learners to communicate skillfully and think critically.

Underwater Robotics with SeaMATE at Lee High School

Students at Lee High School explored advanced engineering through the SeaMATE Underwater Robotics program, made possible by an Innovative Teaching Grant.

Through this hands-on project, students designed and built their own remotely operated vehicles, gaining experience with soldering, circuitry, buoyancy, and mechanical construction. They also strengthened essential skills such as teamwork, research, problem solving, and presenting to an audience.

This project expanded the district’s STEM opportunities and gave students a powerful way to connect classroom learning with real world engineering. We are proud to support innovative experiences that inspire creativity and prepare our students for future success.

Class VR: Bringing Learning to Life at Crockett Elementary

Thanks to an Innovative Teaching Grant, students at Crockett Elementary are already stepping into immersive learning experiences through Class VR technology.

With these VR headsets and interactive lessons, students can explore places they could never visit in person, participate in virtual STEM simulations, and engage with real-world scenarios that deepen understanding and spark curiosity. Class VR is helping students stay engaged, think critically, and build the 21st-century skills they need for the future.

We are proud to support innovative tools that transform classrooms and make learning more meaningful for every child at Crockett Elementary.

Guitar Club: Opening Doors Through Music

Thanks to an Innovative Teaching Grant, underprivileged students now have the opportunity to join Goose Creek Memorial's Guitar 1 class even if they do not have an instrument of their own.

This project provides eight guitars that will allow more students to explore fine arts, build confidence, develop discipline, and experience the joy of making music. By removing financial barriers, the Guitar Club helps students connect to school, improve attendance and behavior, and take pride in public performances.

We are proud to support programs that expand access to the arts and create new pathways for students to succeed.

We FELT That!

At Highlands Junior, students entered into an art form many never get to experience: needle felting. Thanks to an Innovative Teaching Grant, young artists were able to combine wool fibers, texture, and technique to create sculptural, three-dimensional pieces that bring their imagination to life.

This project gave students the chance to explore a new medium, build problem-solving skills, and see how art connects to real-world careers from fashion and textiles to product design. By engaging with diverse materials, students discover new ways to express themselves and develop confidence in their creativity.

We are proud to support educators who introduce students to innovative art experiences that help develop the whole child.

TI-Nspire Navigator System: Real-Time Learning in Action

Thanks to an Innovative Teaching Grant, math classrooms at Cedar Bayou Junior School are becoming more interactive and responsive than ever.

The new TI-Nspire Navigator System creates a wireless connection between student calculators and the teacher, allowing instant checks for understanding, real-time feedback, and increased engagement. This technology supports 7th grade Honors and 8th grade math students by helping teachers monitor progress, adjust instruction quickly, and strengthen mastery of key concepts.

We are proud to support innovative tools that enhance student achievement and create more equitable, engaging learning environments across Goose Creek CISD.
