June 6, 1944 – D-Day

Today we remember the courage, sacrifice, and unwavering resolve of the Allied forces who stormed the beaches of Normandy 82 years ago. Their actions changed the course of history and helped secure the freedoms we enjoy today.

More than 160,000 Allied soldiers, sailors, airmen, and support personnel answered the call, knowing the price could be great. Thousands made the ultimate sacrifice during the Normandy invasion and the campaign that followed. Their bravery and devotion to duty remain an enduring example of service above self.

As Freemasons, we honor those who demonstrated the virtues of courage, fidelity, and brotherly love in the face of extraordinary adversity. May we never forget the sacrifices made by the Greatest Generation and by all who have worn our nation’s uniform.

“We will remember them.”

Lest we forget.

One of the things that makes Sampson special is that we know how to balance the serious work of Masonry with a little good-natured fun.

Recently, an unknown Brother has made it his mission to swap out the Worshipful Master’s gavel before meetings. From a squeaky toy hammer to other creative substitutes, the surprises have become something of a tradition.

While our meetings are conducted in due and ancient form, moments like these remind us that fellowship, laughter, and friendship are just as important as the business we conduct. A Lodge should be a place where Brothers enjoy spending time together, and a little harmless humor goes a long way toward building those bonds.

To the mystery gavel bandit: well played.

To everyone else: remember, Masonry is serious—but that doesn’t mean we can’t have fun along the way.

Making Masons. Building Brotherhood. Having a little fun while doing it. 🔨😂

Today we pause to remember the men and women who gave their lives in service to this nation. Memorial Day is more than the unofficial start of summer. It is a day of reflection, gratitude, and remembrance for those who never made it home.

At Sampson Lodge No. 231, we honor the fallen and the families who carry their memory forward. The freedoms we enjoy were purchased at a tremendous cost, and we should never take that sacrifice for granted.

As you spend time with family and friends today, take a moment to remember the heroes who gave everything in service to others.

May we live lives worthy of their sacrifice.

🇺🇸 Sampson Lodge No. 231 Memorial Day Post

This Memorial Day weekend, we hope everyone enjoys time with family, friends, and community. Fire up the grill, enjoy the sunshine, and make the most of the long weekend — but also take a few moments to remember why we have it.

Memorial Day is not simply the start of summer. It is a day set aside to honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to this country and the freedoms we enjoy every day.

As Masons, we are reminded that duty, sacrifice, and love of country are virtues worthy of remembrance and respect.

May we never forget those who paid the ultimate price for liberty.
