Lying awake while your mind replays the whole day? 🌙
A 2026 study found that 8 weeks of meditation cut the share of poor sleepers from 50% to 18% — falling asleep got easier, sleep got deeper, and stress eased too. Rest is a practice.
Save this for later 🤍

Listening together. Taking time to write. Pausing for meditation. 💚
On October 10, we gathered at our Bayside center to join a World Mental Health Day event on Zoom. The session brought together mental health insights, guided journaling, inspiring stories, and meditation, giving us time to turn our attention inward.
We followed the journaling prompts, reflected on what we were carrying, and made space to pause together. A Saturday gathering with time for ourselves and time alongside our community.
Thank you to everyone who joined us. Here’s to making room for mental well-being in our everyday lives, one pause at a time. 🌿

Your brain has a fluid circulation system that helps carry away waste. Could meditation influence how it moves?

A Vanderbilt-led MRI study found that 23 experienced meditators showed changes in cerebrospinal fluid movement during focused-attention meditation. Backward flow decreased in one brain passage, and some fluid fluctuations resembled patterns reported during sleep.

These findings suggest a possible role for meditation in supporting the brain’s waste-clearance processes.

Your brain can start rewiring in just 7 days — no drugs, just meditation. 🧠

UC San Diego researchers followed 20 adults through a week-long meditation retreat (~33 hours of practice). Brain scans showed quieter self-criticism networks and a more efficient, in-sync brain — while their post-retreat blood plasma helped lab-grown neurons grow longer branches. The plasma also showed higher BDNF, a protein linked to brain plasticity.

Worth knowing: this was an intensive week-long program, and the study was small (20 people), uncontrolled, and observational — so take it as early evidence, not proof.

Save this for a friend who says they "don't have time to meditate" 🤍

You know nothing is seriously wrong. You've already thought it through a hundred times. And yet — your mind goes right back to it. 🌀

Overthinking isn't you being bad at thinking. It's your mind stuck in a familiar loop: replaying conversations, imagining worst cases, questioning decisions you've already made.

Here's one question that helps: "Is this thought helping me take a useful next step — or am I repeating the same mental conversation?"

Telling yourself to "just stop thinking" rarely works. But there's a way to notice thoughts with a little distance, without forcing them to disappear. I wrote about how it works (and 4 ways to practice it in guided meditation) here:

A new season can begin while your mind is still carrying the last one.

An unfinished conversation. A worry about work. The feeling that you should be doing more.

As fall routines pick up, you may notice how much you’ve been holding onto.

At Bayside Meditation, we guide you through a method of looking back and letting go of accumulated thoughts, emotions, and memories—step by step.

Start with a free, 45-minute intro session. Meet a guide, learn about the method, and try it for yourself.

You were fine… until you started comparing.

Someone else’s life can start to feel like a measure of your own — their success, their relationships, their pace.

But their path is not your pressure.

Come back to yourself.

Sometimes, a clearer mind begins by letting go of what was never yours to carry.
