On August 6, 2026, we honored a rich legacy of community service with a street co-naming of 205 St and 33rd Ave as Millie Rigoli Way. We are honored to memorialize her with her name permanently installed on a NYC street sign, outside the building that was most dear to her heart, PS 159. Thank you to the Northwest Bayside Civic Association, Paul DiDio, Kim Johnson, Father Bob Whelan, Jeanine Iooco, and Erin Brennan for their letters of support, and CB 11 for unanimously approving the project. The biggest thank you to Council Member Vickie Paladino who understood from the start who Millie Rigoli was, what she stood for, and why she should be honored, and brought the project forward to city council for final approval.

Newsdsy article proves Propel is a sham.

Newsday Article today (8/5) by Mark Harrington casts doubts on the benefits of Propel!

WHAT NEWSDAY FOUND

• A new high-voltage cable project between Long Island and Westchester will “simply shift” constrained power reliability needs within the downstate region “rather than eliminate them,” according to recent federal filing by LIPA.

• In a declaration that was part of the LIPA filing, a PSEG Long Island official said the proposed $3.26 billion Propel NY Energy cable project won’t provide LIPA with “meaningful access to upstate generation resources or broader regional capacity …”

• Propel is backed by the state, construction firms and unions, but opponents worry about traffic as well as health, safety and environmental concerns

Another key quote: "In a declaration that was part of the LIPA filing, Lucyna Khazanovich, senior director of strategy and planning for PSEG Long Island, said the benefit of the $3.26 billion Propel NY Energy cable is chiefly “additional transfer capability” between Con-Ed’s service territories in New York City and Westchester and Long Island. She attests that Propel, a series of 90-miles of high-voltage power lines from Western Suffolk to Westchester, as planned won’t provide LIPA with “meaningful access to upstate generation resources or broader regional capacity …” - This seems to counter the actual "two-way" options cited earlier to justify Propel.
