The Artists Ave is a non-profit, after-school musical theater program for students in Hudson County

At The Artists Avenue, we envision a classroom environment that embraces a diverse mix of students at different skill levels. We firmly believe that this approach fosters growth for beginner students as they observe and learn from the advanced students in action. Simultaneously, the advanced students develop valuable leadership skills by collaborating with peers of varying levels. We are inspired

by the dynamics of professional productions, where performers with diverse backgrounds and training levels come together to create exceptional shows. By adopting this teaching method, we aim to cultivate an atmosphere that mirrors the ability to produce high-caliber performances, placing a strong emphasis on teamwork and collaboration.

The Artists Avenue would love to give a huge THANK YOU to Jack Saleeby ( ) for joining us for our Bringing Broadway to Bayonne master class 🎭

For two incredible hours, Jack worked hands-on with our students—ages 6 to 18—guiding them through improv, acting techniques, and skill-building exercises that challenged and inspired them to grow. His energy, professionalism, and passion for the craft left a lasting impression on every student in the room.

⭐ Get to know Jack:Jack Saleeby is a NYC-based theatre artist originally from Connecticut. He is a proud graduate of the Waterbury Arts Magnet School and holds a BFA in Theatre Arts Performance from Hofstra University. Jack has performed globally, most notably as the Scarecrow in The Wizard of Oz (North American & China tour). His credits also include the national tour of Shrek!, Footloose with Norwegian Cruise Line, and standout regional roles in Mary Poppins, The Boy from Oz, West Side Story, Newsies, Twelfth Night, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

We are so grateful for artists like Jack who pour into the next generation and help our students shine even brighter ✨

Matthew Steffens is an international director & choreographer, and proudly serves as a Team Director for R.Evolución Latina. Broadway: Into The Woods, Once Upon A Mattress, Doctor Zhivago, Promises Promises, Women On the Verge…. Tours: Into the Woods, West Side Story, Contact, Beauty & the Beast. Off-Broadway: Queen of the Night (Diamond Horseshoe), The Visitor (The Public), Superhero (2ST), Bountiful (R.Evolución Latina). Film/TV: The Last Five Years, Across the Universe, Smash, Movie on Up. Choreographer for First Amendment Troupe’s ResistDance. Proud Uncle to 6 nieces & nephews!
