I’m hanging on by a thread right now. Don’t know how much longer I can keep all of this up.

The hardest part of rescue is knowing another cat needs help and having to say we can’t afford to take them in…

As of today, Furvana is back in debt. We have to pause intake because we cannot afford to vet another new cat.

But the cats already here still need us. The two faces in these photos are Royce and Mochi.

Royce was confirmed completely blind at the vet today. He has other special needs related to a congenital defect, too.

Mochi is a baby girl whose loving family transferred her into our care today because they didn’t know what else to do to help her and they were turned away by every other rescue and shelter they asked for help. There’s a lot going on with this little girl, and she will need a neurologist.

They’re just two of our serious medical cases, while we continue spaying and neutering 12–18 cats every week. Today alone, that care cost over $1,500.

For a few weeks, I could finally breathe without constantly worrying about money. Now we’re here again.

And honestly, I’m having a really hard time. Between rescue, my personal life, and starting my own cat Pooka’s FIP treatment, everything is hitting at once. Hearing him scream during his first injection tonight, and then laying there being unable to move, broke my heart. I wanted to make a video explaining everything, but I just can’t bring myself to do it right now.

Pooka is my personal financial responsibility. His treatment is not included in this plea for rescue donations.

The cats we’ve already taken in will get the care they need, even if it means more debt. They don’t know what our bank account says. They only know we’re the people they’re depending on.

Please help us be there for them. Donate if you can. Share if you can’t. I’ll try to explain more tomorrow, but tonight, I’m asking our community to help carry what has become too heavy to carry alone. 🤍

One of our supporters reached out asking us to share this fundraiser, and we’re hoping our Furvana community can send some love and help to sweet Ozzy. ❤️🐾

A year and a half ago, Alex and her boyfriend Joe rescued two kittens from inside their apartment walls and gave them a loving home. Now, their beloved Ozzy needs help again.

According to their fundraiser, Ozzy was rushed to the emergency vet with severe breathing difficulties. Vets found an enlarged esophagus, and he spent the night in an ICU breathing chamber. He needs specialist care, but his family has already spent everything they can afford on his emergency stay.

This sweet boy loves snuggling in his blanket, belly rubs, and making friends with everyone he meets. His family is trying so hard to get him the care he needs, and we know how frightening it is to have a sick pet while the bills keep climbing. 💔

Does anyone within an hour of Bayonne, NJ have GS and supplies so I can start Pooka on meds immediately?

I took this picture with Pooka right before Dr. Paul came back into the room with news I desperately didn’t want to hear. He suspects FIP or lymphoma. We don’t have answers yet, and I’m trying so hard to hold it together.

Pooka came into Furvana in February as a baby with ringworm and polyps. It took a few months for the ringworm to resolve, and we had his polyps removed. He’s already been through so much in his little life. Somewhere along the way, this rescue baby became my own baby. I adopted him and he became my sweet baby boy💙

Right now, I’m sitting in the exam room sobbing while he’s in the back getting tests, fluids, and care. All I want is for him to come back so I can hold him.

Pooka, I’m going to do everything I can for you, sweet boy. You are so loved. Please keep him in your thoughts while we wait for answers. 🤍

One of the things I love most is seeing organizations working for the well-being of our community cats support one another. We share the same hope: more cats safe, cared for, and loved. ❤️🐾

Hudson County Animal League made a generous monetary donation to Furvana from the proceeds of their October 3rd Tricky Tray, and it covered two vet visits this morning AND an emergency visit late last night. Three cats received the care they needed because of their kindness.

Rescue can feel overwhelming, and support like this means so much. Thank you, Hudson County Animal League, and everyone who helped make their fundraiser possible. We are so grateful to be part of a community that shows up for the cats, and for each other. 💜
