Pine River Shares will be closed the week of Labor Day (Sept 7-11th). There will be no office hours or meetings this week, and the Food Market and Freecycle Room will be closed as well. If your regular food visit falls during this week, visit us this week or come the following week in its place. We WILL be delivering kids backpacks at the schools and produce to seniors during Labor Day week. Call 970-884-6040 for more info.

This Monday, August 24th, will be Colorado Pet Pantry Day at Pine River Shares. These great folks will be set up in front of the building giving out pet food from 11-1 (or until they run out). Be sure to stop by if it is your month or for more information if you've never taken advantage of this resource before.

The Pine River Shares Dome and Gardens (on the PRS campus) is looking for volunteers... come on down Mondays at 10:30. Join us, have fun, and grow food for your community!

Help us free up some freezer space! Stop by Monday (July 20) from 10-3 for a frozen gallon of 2% milk (or more) and Popsicles. Find us in the food room or PRS office and ask for the freezer special! 😁

The The Durango Herald is shining an important light on food insecurity in La Plata County through a powerful three-part series featuring personal stories, local data, and the organizations working every day to ensure our community has access to nutritious food.

One of the most important reminders from this series is that food insecurity doesn't always look the way we expect. It can affect the person sleeping at the bus stop, your coworker, a family down the street, a senior on a fixed income, or even the farmer who grows our food.

Awareness leads to understanding. Understanding leads to action. And together, we can create meaningful change. 💛
