An open letter to our Wolverine Wonders community πŸ’™

For the second time, we gathered to celebrate our children and close another homeschool year together.

A graduation ceremony gives us the opportunity to pause, close a chapter, and recognize how much each child has grown in their own unique way. Watching their confidence, friendships, kindness, independence, and sense of belonging grow throughout the year is one of the greatest privileges of what we do.

With this celebration, Wolverine Wonders officially closed our second year as a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and we are now stepping into our third! πŸ₯³

To every parent, caregiver, board member, collaborator, and sponsor, thank you. Your support allows us to welcome families with materials prepared, projects ready, and meaningful opportunities waiting for their children.

A very special thank you to the Bayfield Lions Club for opening its doors to us and giving Wolverine Wonders a place to call home.

Thank you to Ami Crawford for the beautiful and delicious graduation cake, to Andrew Trujillo for preparing our delicious pasta dinner, and to Tiffany Bates for the amazing salad and garlic bread. You helped make the celebration feel even more special! πŸŽ‚πŸπŸ₯—

Wolverine Wonders is 100% a community entity, and the way our community continues to believe in our mission and help us serve local families means more than I could ever express.

And yes, this was only our second graduation ceremony, and I still had quite a lot to say. πŸ˜… I promise I will continue working on making my speeches shorter as the years go by. No guarantees, but I will try! 🀞🀣

πŸŽ‰ Congratulations, Wondering Wolverines, on completing the 2025–2026 homeschool year in community and joy. We are so proud of every single one of you! πŸŽ“πŸ’™

With love,
Milena

πŸ“š Book Club πŸ“š

A couple weeks ago, we wrapped up our final Book Club session of the 2025-2026 homeschool year. What a wonderful journey it has been. πŸ’™

Over the course of this homeschool year, Wolverine Wonders families read and explored 10 incredible books together, sharing stories, characters, adventures, crafts, discussions, and memories along the way.

None of this would have been possible without the generosity and support of Maria’s Bookshop and Maria’s Literary Foundation. Because of this partnership, our kids had the opportunity to experience the joy of reading together and discover books they will remember for years to come.

We are incredibly grateful for their continued investment in literacy, community, and local families. πŸ“šβœ¨

And we are so excited to officially announce that our partnership has been renewed for the upcoming homeschool year! πŸŽ‰

Book Club will return for the 2026-2027 homeschool year, brought to you by Maria's Bookshop and Maria's Literary Foundation. We cannot wait to share another year of great books and great memories together. πŸ’™

πŸ’¦ Water Wise πŸ’¦

This was our final Water Wise session of the homeschool year, and what an incredible season it has been. πŸŠβ€β™€οΈπŸ’™

Week after week, we watched our kids build confidence, develop important water safety skills, and become more comfortable in the water. It has been such a joy to see their growth throughout the year.

We are also so excited to share that Water Wise has officially been renewed and will be returning for the 2026-2027 homeschool year! πŸŽ‰

A heartfelt thank you to the Cristian Korte Memorial Swim Fund for renewing this beautiful partnership and continuing to invest in the safety and well-being of local children. We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to bring this program to homeschooling families in our community.

Thank you as well to Trudy Kremer, our swim program coordinator, the amazing instructors, and the team at the SunUte Community Center for helping make this program possible. πŸ’™

We can’t wait to be back in the pool with Water Wise next homeschool year!

πŸ’™ Last Mini Class of the Homeschool Year πŸ’™

Last Tuesday, we wrapped up our final Mini Class of the homeschool year, and what a beautiful way it was to end the season together. ✨

The kids loved watching videos and photos from throughout the year, remembering all the friendships, field trips, crafts, games, and moments that made this homeschool year so special. πŸ₯°

And just like last year, the handprint shirt craft felt truly magical. βœ¨πŸŽ¨πŸ–οΈ

πŸ’Ž Watching each child collect handprints from their friends created such a meaningful keepsake from the year together. A simple white shirt slowly turned into a memory filled with the people they laughed with, learned with, and grew alongside throughout the homeschool year. πŸ’™

🧑 At Wolverine Wonders, our focus has never been curriculum. We believe every homeschooling family should have the freedom to choose the educational path that works best for their children.

✨ What we specialize in is creating intentional, structured, and consistent opportunities for homeschoolers to connect, build friendships, practice social skills, and experience the joy of learning together in community.

We also understand that many families choose homeschooling because of the freedom it provides, which is why families can pick and choose what fits their schedules and interests throughout the year through our RSVP system. πŸŒŽπŸ“šβœ¨

🀩 And the best part? πŸ₯³ The 2026-2027 homeschool year is officially LIVE on our website, and we are so excited to bring back Mini Classes like the ones you’ve been seeing on our social media along with all our exciting opportunities for next year. πŸ₯³

πŸ₯‹ Elevated Wolverines πŸ₯‹

Last week we wrapped up our final Elevated Wolverines session of the homeschool year with a celebration of everything the kids learned throughout the program.

Through games, challenge stations, escape drills, verbal safety practice, and teamwork activities, the kids reviewed important self-defense and personal safety skills in such a fun and confidence-building way. From using strong voices and body language to practicing awareness and safe escape responses, it was amazing to see how much they’ve grown throughout the year. πŸ’™

A huge thank you to Coach Forrest for generously volunteering his time, knowledge, and space at Elevated Martial Arts to make this program possible for our kids. We are so grateful for the care, encouragement, and confidence he poured into this group all year long.

Elevated Wolverines will return next homeschool year in a new format, with special pop-up sessions offered throughout the year. We’re excited for more opportunities ahead for our kids to continue building confidence, awareness, and practical safety skills together. πŸ₯‹

🎬 Movie Monday 🎬

This week, we had our final Movie Monday of the homeschool year, and we watched Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone right after reading the book together. βš‘πŸ“š

Stories like Harry Potter have remained meaningful across generations because they introduce kids to important social and emotional concepts through storytelling. Friendship, bravery, loyalty, empathy, resilience, and learning to question first impressions are all deeply woven into the story.

One of the most powerful lessons throughout the book is the reminder that people and situations are not always what they first appear to be. It introduces the idea of grace, perspective, and the importance of not rushing to judge others too quickly. πŸ’™

The story also highlights courage, not as the absence of fear, but as choosing to do what is right even when something feels difficult or uncertain.

Such a magical and meaningful way to close out Movie Mondays for this homeschool year. ✨

🎢 Marvelous Minds: Music Royalty 🎢

Yesterday we wrapped up our final Marvelous Minds session of the homeschool year by exploring five incredible artists who became known as the kings of their genres. οΏΌ

From the blues of B.B. King, to the rock and roll of Elvis Presley, the reggae of Bob Marley, the country storytelling of George Strait, and the pop energy of Michael Jackson, the kids got to experience how different styles of music can sound, feel, and move us in completely different ways. 🎡

They listened, danced, compared rhythms and performances, and then created their own Music Royalty vinyl discs featuring all five artists. The finished crafts turned out so incredibly cool. πŸ’Ώ

Such a fun, energetic, and memorable way to close out another amazing season of Marvelous Minds. πŸ’™

Marvelous Minds is sponsored by Four Corners Community Bank, and we are so grateful for their support throughout this homeschool year.

πŸ’™ Grandfriends Day πŸ’™

Last Friday was our final Grandfriends Day of the season, and it was such a special way to wrap up another wonderful year together.

The kids had so much fun creating colorful salt art alongside the seniors, sharing conversations, laughter, and lots of sweet moments throughout the visit. 🎨

These visits have become such a meaningful part of our homeschool year, and we are so grateful for every moment shared across generations.

Keep an eye on our social media throughout the summer for possible pop-up opportunities to visit the seniors, and we are already looking forward to bringing Grandfriends Day back next homeschool year as a pop up program. πŸ’™
