Yesterday’s Marvelous Minds was such a fun trip back to the Renaissance! 🎨🐒✨

The kids met the real artists behind the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle names: Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, and Donatello.

One of the best parts was learning something almost everyone gets wrong: Michelangelo did not paint the Sistine Chapel ceiling lying flat on his back. He stood on a wooden platform, tipped his head back, and painted above himself for years.

So, of course, the kids had to try it! They held their papers above their heads and got a tiny taste of what painting like Michelangelo might have felt like. Their arms and necks had opinions. πŸ˜…

They also explored inventions like Leonardo, searched for hidden faces in Raphael’s School of Athens, and sculpted like Donatello. The kids had a blast!

Water Wise finally kicked off yesterday! πŸ’¦πŸŠβ€β™€οΈ

Our first session of the homeschool year was such a special way to begin another year of building essential life skills together.

The kids got in the water, listened to their coaches, practiced new skills, built confidence, and had so much fun while learning something truly important.

A heartfelt thank you to the Cristian Korte Memorial Swim Fund for sponsoring this program. We could not offer Water Wise without their support, and we are so grateful for the way they help make swim lessons accessible for our families. πŸ’™

Thank you also to Tabetha Karp-Napier, the swim program coordinator at SunUte, and to coaches Trudy, Dave, and Joan for being there and teaching our kids such important life skills with patience and care.

And a big thank you to SunUte Community Center for welcoming our group each week. 🫢

We are so excited Water Wise is back and looking forward to another homeschool year of learning, confidence, and safety in the water! πŸ’¦ πŸŠβ€β™€οΈ

Welcome, September! 🍎✨

We are excited for another month of learning, exploring, and connecting together.

This month in Mini Classes, our Wondering Wolverines will explore geography from biggest to smallest, from continents to countries, states, cities, and towns, and even our solar system as we learn more about our place in the universe. 🌎πŸͺ

We’ll also have our first Book Club discussion for How to Be a Pirate, our first Marvelous Minds session about the Renaissance artists behind the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle names, and we’ll join the Town of Bayfield in celebrating Heritage Days!

It’s going to be a great month. πŸ’™

All September and October programs are now available to RSVP!

Save the date! πŸ‚πŸ§

Our Second Annual Fall Bake Sale is coming up, and we are already so excited!

Last year, we were truly humbled by the way our community showed up to support Wolverine Wonders. This year’s bake sale feels even more special because we are raising funds for a much-needed storage shed for our co-op materials, supplies, and program items.

Anyone who has joined Wolverine Wonders knows that once you RSVP for a session, all you need to do is show up. We work hard to have the materials ready, activities prepared, and everything organized so families can simply enjoy learning and connecting together. πŸ’™

Fundraisers like this help us keep our programs high quality, prepared, and accessible for local homeschooling families.

✨ We are also calling local bakers, candy makers, bread makers, jam and jelly makers, and anyone who creates delicious homemade goods! If you would like to donate items to our bake sale, we would love to showcase your brand while you help us raise funds for our co-op.

Our first Book Club gathering of the year was such a sweet new chapter. πŸ“šπŸ’™

The kids made bookmarks, learned how our monthly reading rhythm will work, and got ready to begin our first reading adventure together.

We will read next: How to Be a Pirate by Cressida Cowell, the second book in the How to Train Your Dragon series. Last year, Book Club read How to Train Your Dragon, so this year we are continuing the adventure. πŸ‰βš”οΈ

A special thank you to Maria's Bookshop and Maria's Literary Foundation for sponsoring our Book Club and donating one book per family. What a beautiful gift to our homeschooling community!

Happy reading! πŸ“–βœ¨

Today’s Mini Class was electric! βš‘πŸ’‘

Our Wondering Wolverines learned all about electricity and simple circuits through stories, questions, hands-on exploring, and lots of movement.

We read Oscar and the Bird, talked about how electricity shows up in everyday life, sorted objects that use electricity and objects that do not, and then the kids got to build their own paper circuit robot cards that actually lit up! πŸ€–βœ¨

They also used their bodies to act out how electricity moves through a circuit, which was such a fun way to bring the lesson to life.

It was a morning full of curiosity, teamwork, problem-solving, and bright little inventors thinking through how things work. We love seeing learning light up like this! πŸ’™
