MEET YOUR MEMBERS:
Today's Sunday Spotlight is one of our power couples Chuck Gray and Helen Schruf.
This committee has seen a few couples become dedicated members. Even though many of our members bring their significant others to support and volunteer with our committee, only a handful have dedicated their time together to our committee to come to meetings, participate in events, and do the background work to make things a success. It is great to see a couple share a devotion to making Bayard Beautiful. Chuck and Helen are always going out of their way on their own time to mitigate weeds and debris, cover up graffiti, and help a neighbor out. They are at nearly every event our committee holds and gets involved with other community organizations.
At 64 years old William Charles Gray Jr. has become a true model citizen for Bayard. His willingness to volunteer and give back to his community is one of a kind. He called Bayard home for 17 years before relocating for a while and then returning "home" for the last 14 years, totaling 31 years of residing here. He loves our city because in his personal experience he can walk around without any fear and our close proximity to the trail system in Ft. Bayard for hiking, exploring with his dogs, and enjoying the outdoors. His favorite thing about what our committee has done for the community is the Christmas Lights Decoration Contest because it brings holiday joy to ride around with the police and fire department to deliver the prizes. He likes the Candy Drop/Trunk or Treat as well because the kids love it. He also really enjoys working at our Bingo fundraisers. Since joining the committee Chuck has held positions of member, Chair, Community Service Coordinator, and is currently a city councilman which makes him our Council Liaison.
THANK YOU Chuck Gray for your continuous involvement and dedication! Feel free to share a like, a positive story, or simply a "thank you" for Chuck!
At 63 years old Helen M. Schruf is a resident that gives back to Bayard in an unseen way on a daily basis. She is an Animal Shelter Volunteer and goes to the animal shelter daily to maintain the facility, feed and water the animals, and spend some time giving them her attention in rain, snow, or shine. She has lived in Bayard since 2012, 14 years, and loves the small rural aspect about it. She loves Bayard because it is close to the Ft. Bayard trails where she can go hiking with her dogs. Her favorite thing about what our committee has done for the community are the cleanups because they are most meaningful. She has held positions of member, Secretary, and is currently our Vice Chair, and Treasurer.
THANK YOU Helen Schruf for your continuous involvement and dedication! Feel free to share a like, a positive story, or a simple "thank you" for Helen!
