To all the parents with your hand raised, I am here to answer your questions!
Thanks for reaching out and sending messages. Do not worry, we will get your kid into the room. The response has been great so far. I am going to do my best to answer the main questions that seemed to come in the most often from the DMs.
1. For the first year wrestlers, the level 1 is split into two separate age groups due to the amount of kids who have signed up so far. Do not worry, we have more than enough experienced coaches on hand and ready for the upcoming season. Level 1 has younger group that consists of pre-k to second grade. The second level 1 wrestler group is from second to sixth. Level 1 focuses on learning the fundamentals of wrestling. This level does not compete in matches unless their parent requests them to. A lot of teaching, and a lot of fun. Teaching sandwiched with dodgeball, tug of war, relay races etc.
2. Level 2, or our JV program is for kids with some experience. They have graduated through Level 1. Level 2 consists of technique and teaching, along with their first live matches. They will wrestle in their first tournament, the BWC invitational at Bay High. The kids are paired with kids from other schools of similar experience and background. Our BWC coaches, along with the coaches from the other schools in our conference focus on child development and confidence. None of the coaches want to pair kids against an opponent who has an abundance more experience. We are teaching our kids the sport of wrestling, and developing them at the same time. If your kid is up to it, we encourage the kids to compete in additional wrestling tournaments with their BWC team against other JV level kids and experience level. Character building, sportsmanship, learning wrestling, and still a bunch of fun team activities to conclude practice.
3. Level 3, our varsity program. This can be any kid in the first to sixth grade. This is for our experienced wrestlers. More advanced technique training. Lots more full live matches and tournaments. This is for the kids who are choosing the commitment to the great sport of wrestling.
So parents, put those hands down, and sign your kids up for the remaining spots before they are full.
But seriously, you can keep the questions coming too.
