Welcome SEPTEMBER! If you or someone you know have been touched by ovarian cancer you know that September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month but many women do not know this. It's important to know the symptoms -bloating, pelvic/abdominal pain, changes in bladder/bowel habits, changes in your menstrual cycle, unexplained or heavy bleeding/spotting, back pain, loss of appetite or feeling full quickly, unexplained fatigue. Every woman is different so if you have any of these symptoms that are unusual for you and last for more than 2 weeks please see your doctor and ask about ovarian cancer, be persistent. A PAP test does NOT screen for ovarian cancer in fact there is no screening test for ovarian cancer. There are risk factors - but simply being a woman of any age puts you at risk. This is an interesting article that we’ll be watching in the future regarding a possible discovery for a subset of clear cell ovarian cancers that respond to immunotherapy.

New treatments are being explored for incurable and difficult-to-treat cancers.
