New research from the Keck School of Medicine of USC shows that prostate cancer can be more aggressive in Black men, with risk levels several times higher in some cases. Early screening becomes even more important when you factor in family history and inherited genes that may influence how the disease develops.
Some of the variants linked to higher risk include ATM, BRCA2, CHEK2, HOXB13, and PALB2. Knowing your risk and talking to your doctor about when to start PSA testing can make a real difference.
