Our Guest Speaker, Bay Shore Alumni Association president Harry Brown, will host a presentation celebrating the Bay Shore High School Hall of Fame and Veterans Wall of Honor. The BSHS Alumni Association is a community organization with a long-lasting, close working relationship with the Bay Shore School District. The Hall of Fame and Veterans Wall of Honor are projects that recognize the contributions and service of Bay Shore High School alumni. A Bay Shore legend, Louis Leggio, passed away on November 7, 2022
(A brief story)

In 2014 Louie and Joe celebrated their 50th year of being in business. Their hero sandwiches were famous and enjoyed by generations of Bay Shore-Brightwaters residents. They used this public celebration to raise money for a student scholarship fund. Our BSHS Alumni Association proudly administered and presented several Joseph & Louie Leggio Scholarship awards that year. But it didn’t end there! They continued soliciting donations year after year in their deli. Periodically we would receive a money order in odd amounts – no note attached but folded in paper with a Leggio’s Deli address.
Due to the kindness and generosity of these two Bay Shore alumni, we have been able to present a Joseph & Louie Leggio Award to a deserving Bay Shore graduate every year since 2014.
Rest in Peace Louie. You have touched many. The world is a better place because of you. You will be missed!

Free “Walk With Frank” Film Showing

The Bay Shore Alumni Association is sponsoring a FREE private showing of the "Walk With Frank" documentary film highlighting veteran Post Traumatic Stress (PTSD), veteran drug and alcohol addiction, and veteran homelessness. Frank Romeo, a Bay Shore Vietnam veteran, walked 750 miles across New York State from Buffalo to Bay Shore discussing these mental health issues with other veterans, government officials, and citizens along his journey. This revealing and emotional documentary is a must see for all to better understand the mental health crisis still affecting too many of our brave veterans. Frank will host a brief question and answer session immediately following this showing. All are welcome! Please spread the word ....

CLASS OF 1959 REUNIONS

The Bay Shore High School Class of 1959 is celebrating their 60th graduation anniversary at two sites this year.
The first celebration will be held at Captain Bill’s waterfront restaurant on Ocean Avenue in Bay Shore. The date is Saturday August 10th, 2019 from 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM.
The second celebration will be held at the Dolphin Bar and Shrimp House on 1401 N.E. Indian River Drive in Jensen Beach, Florida. The date is Saturday November 9th, 2019 from 11:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
Dress is casual. There will be no assigned seating. Please bring your spouse/significant other.
Tickets at both locations are $55.00 per person. Each site will have the same buffet consisting of a carving station; hot dishes, salad, fruit, cheese and vegetable basket, dessert, coffee, tea and soda. Alcoholic beverages may be purchased from the tap room bar.

As a side note – The Dolphin Bar and Shrimp House was originally opened years ago by a famous movie star and singer Frances Langford who starred in numerous movies with the likes of Bing Crosby, Bob Hope, Perry Como and others. She also had a number one hit song entitled “Harbor Lights”. Sounds familiar, the theme of our senior prom – Harbor Lights. By the way, the restaurant contains a mini museum of Frances Langford.

SUMMARY
All of us involved do hope you can attend one or both of our reunion sites. Also, very important. The committee has opened our reunion(s) to other alumni of Bay Shore High School. Same price as class members for all alumni and guests. It would be a nice addition to our reunions.
