Old Cheraw = Nottoway as one of the “Two Towns” of Nottoway Tributary Natives in the late 1600’s. By mid century 1756, they were helping Col Eaton under Chief of Churrah, Thomas Parker at Tabbs’ Creek; then bounty lands came on the Little P*e Dee with the SC Assembly vote for Old Cheraw’s District formation of 1767, then it was over to Indian Territory at Ft Adams and back to WV for the contingients that had a back migration: The Shumates for Chalmette, La and the William Pre-BiA agent passporting the group from Kingston Co, where their petition for a more fair court was ignored; over to help in the Indian Agent and Munitions Supplier for the War of 1812, “Choctaw” Bill Williams/Old Cheraw. For the Pinetuckians who came to hep, some went back to KY and WV and there are sister cities / communities to this day from said lines and times and continuous leadership groups in contact.
Cheraw = Ashe of First Level of Heaven and Cherokee means Heavenly Fire Eater and the two are not the same or the same peoples. Old Cheraw is specific to a Coropeake, Va- Land Rez in 1680 to a "Parker" Named Group who are not related to the 48 Parkers in the FTDNA Parker ydna project.
Central to the Hogg’s Island over to Hogg’s Neck are the Williams and Floyd familes together from Nottoway times to Rev War time, in service to the Whigs and then Patriots. The continuity is with the Gov of WV’s and first Congressman in Congress to acknowledge proudly, his being native, Gov Floyd of WV. The continuity for Old Cheraw of MS is with “The People” who have their ways from Burke’s Creek Regulator camp families who started Lott-Fayard Indian Schools. They called themselves Old Cheraw “She Raw” and so that is why we still do. Other people called them, “Chief men of the Nottoway” while in SC. The Diaspora of the Old Cheraw stopped in @Cheraw, MS and their experience never stopped. Ongoing Mission: 1.Reconnecting descendants of Lott - Fayard Indian School. 2.
