Today, we celebrate the legendary James Baldwin on what would've been his 101th birthday!šŸ“šā

James Arthur Baldwin was a writer, playwright, essayist, and activist who is widely considered the civil rights movement’s voice. He is best known for such works as ā€œGo Tell It on the Mountainā€ (1953), ā€œNotes of a Native Sonā€ (1955), ā€œAnother Countryā€ (1962), and ā€œIf Beale Street Could Talkā€ (1974). His work gave language to the struggles of Blacks in America and served as the impetus for more in-depth discussions surrounding race, s*x, and class.

A giant amongst men. Help us celebrate him in the comments!ā™„ļø

Sixty years ago today, the Voting Rights Act of 1965 was signed into law, a monumental step toward ensuring every American, regardless of race or background, could exercise their right to vote.

But today, that progress is under attack in Texas and other states across the country. We must act now to protect the promise of free and fair elections.

Join us in urging Congress to fight for us.
