Yesterday, the sweetest little boy came into the bookstore with his dad. He was absolutely thrilled about the books, especially anything about bugs and dinosaurs -- he knew all of the bugs in the bug book and he said this is MY bug book, so of course his dad made that a reality! :) He was curious, smart, joyful and so excited to learn.
I asked his dad how old he was. Three.
And immediately I thought: this is exactly why we’re doing this.
He has two more years to receive a free book in the mail every single month through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. His dad left with a flyer and QR code to get him signed up.
That’s what this program is all about: feeding that curiosity, encouraging a love of reading and putting books into the hands of young children who are eager to discover the world.
But we have to fund it. And that’s where you come in.
Your support makes these little moments, and hundreds more like them, possible. We are so grateful for every donation and for the generosity of this community. ❤️
And there’s a little extra holiday cheer: donate $31 or more, the amount it takes to provide one child with a full year of monthly books, and you’ll be invited to the Library’s Holiday Tree Celebration on December 5.
Give today and your donation will go twice as far. We so appreciate you all!!!!
