Thank you for the certificate, I truly appreciate the recognition. Bay Minette Civic Club, Inc. hated to cancel the fundraiser but had no Drawing prizes, few Auction items, and no financial support. We hope to try again next year. Greg
Bay Minette Intermediate School was host to the “Music In Our Schools Celebration” on March 31. The sixth grade bands from BMIS, Perdido, and Pine Grove, under the direction of Melanie Brannan, performed three thrilling selections. Also performing was the BMIS Tiger Sound Chorus directed by Dell Edwards. The chorus delighted the audience with several selections and soloists. The highlight of the evening was the presentation of a certificate of appreciation to Greg Mais, president of the Bay Minette Civic Club after which the chorus sang “Thank You.” Mr. Mais has worked diligently for the last ten years to provide the Support Our Schools fundraising event each spring. This year the S.O.S. event was canceled due to a lack of donations. Over the course of the last nine events, the S.O.S. fundraiser has contributed over $100,000 to the Baldwin County High School feeder pattern schools. The bands and the chorus had already prepared for this year’s S.O.S. festival and were anxious to show off their musical talent therefore Mrs. Brannan and Mrs. Edwards planned the celebration to let the community see and hear how important it is to fund and teach music in our local public schools. Greg Mais, seated, was presented with a certificate of appreciation for the work he has done with the Support Our Schools fundraising event for the last 10 years. He is joined by Dr. Abby Hamilton, principal of Bay Minette Intermediate School; Melanie Brannan, band director of BMIS, Perdido, and Pine Grove schools; Dell Edwards, chorus teacher at BMES, BMIS, and Perdido; and Phillip Stewart, principal at Perdido Elementary School.
