Are you a recent female BCHS graduate pursuing STEM at an accredited university? If so, you have the chance to be awarded a $1000 scholarship to go towards tuition, academic projects, medical expenses, housing, living expenses, transportation, or other education-related costs. ABC Humane Wildlife Control & Prevention is a women-owned corporation based out of Northern Illinois. Their goal with this scholarship is to “increase the number of women studying and influencing the future of science, including technology, engineering, and math.”

This scholarship application requires an essay, proof of enrollment to any accredited institution in the U.S., and a letter of reference. All are due by July 1, 2021.

Essay Prompt: Why are you passionate about science, technology, engineering, or math, and how will your pursuit of these fields help preserve biodiversity, improve the health of our planet, or alleviate human suffering?

FACT FRIDAY: It's that time again! Did you know that only 15.7% of engineers and architects are women? That’s the lowest percentage of women compared to ladies in ALL other STEM occupations. According to studies, most women who leave the engineering field do so because of uncomfortable work environments. The lack of female mentors in engineering can make jobs in industry feel lonely. Empower is lucky to have SIX BCHS alumnae who are engineers practicing across the Southeast. ​
