Northwestern Jasper County in central Iowa...

* Until 715 AM CDT.

* At 648 AM CDT, a tornado producing storm was located over Maxwell,
or 8 miles south of Nevada, moving northeast at 70 mph.

HAZARD...Damaging tornado.

SOURCE...Radar confirmed tornado.

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed.
Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree
damage is likely.

State Center, Colo, and Collins around 655 AM CDT.
Clemons around 705 AM CDT.

Other locations impacted by this tornadic thunderstorm include
Collins, Rhodes, St. Anthony, Maxwell, Clemons, Cambridge, and Colo.
To repeat, a tornado is on the ground. TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a
basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy
building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in
a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect
yourself from flying debris.

***Outdated Post*** Strong storms are looking increasingly likely today! Storms are forecast to develop this afternoon in northern Iowa and spread southeast into central and east central Iowa by late afternoon and early evening. The severe risk today is level 2 / 5, meaning scattered severe storms are expected. Storms will be capable of producing damaging wind, heavy rain, and perhaps a tornado, but large hail is the main threat.

Another beautiful evening spent investing in our community.

Tonight, another outstanding group of volunteers gave up their personal time to become better prepared to help when it matters most. Jasper County EMA had the privilege of providing CPR training, helping participants build the confidence and skills needed to respond during a cardiac emergency before first responders arrive.

A special thank you to Baxter Rural Fire Department for hosting us and opening your doors for this training. Partnerships like these make our communities stronger, safer, and more resilient.

Every person trained in CPR has the potential to save a life. Thank you to everyone who dedicated their evening to learning this lifesaving skill. We appreciate your commitment to serving others and making Jasper County a more prepared community.
