Well the 12th Annual Meeting & Historial Banquet is in the books. We were blessed to have our President General Julie Hardaway with us thus weekend. The AM Committee did a wonderful job, and Indigo Sky Casino was the perfect place to have it.

It was lovely seeing Dana Hutton and Barbara Hutton again. We all had a lovely visit at the Celebration of life for Our own LaNell Linn Russell's husband Fred.

Ladies, my son, daughter in law and 4 children lost everything in a flood yesterday. His SCV Camp has started a go fund me page to help out. If this is not permitted on here i will understand.

Michael and I hosted the first UDC & SCV BBQ at our home on Saturday. I would like to thank the ladies of our chapter who came and for all your help and the Private Riley Crawford Camp for sharing this day with us. And a special thank you to the Kansas Division Commander Rick Richard McPherson and Jerry Coffelt for making the long trip to spend the day with us. Thank you to everyone who make this a great day. There was alot of laughter and visiting that went on today.

Along with the Thomas J Key Camp and the Pvt Riley Crawford Camp we helped clean up the Mine Creek Confederate Monument and the battle field walking trails after recent Storm damage. It was a long day but the final outcome was worth it.

This is a sad day for our organization!!!

Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger (D) on Monday signed into law a bill eliminating tax exemptions for multiple organizations connected to the Confederacy.
Democrats in the Virginia House and Senate passed HB167 with vote totals of 62-35 and 21-17, respectively, earlier this year. The bill specifically removes the Virginia Division of the United Daughters of the Confederacy (UDC) and the Confederate Memorial Literary Society, among other similar groups, from the list of organizations exempt from state property taxes.

This will effectively force the UDC to vacate their Richmond building valued at $4.7 million which would make their annual property tax bill of more than $57,000. To add insult to injury, both signings by Spanberger have taken place during Confederate History/Heritage Month, which Virginia no longer recognizes.

What an amazing day to Celebrate Confederate Memorial Month than with this amazing group of people. Thank you ladies of the Cowskin Prairie Chapter for showing your devotion to our ancestors and the Private Riley Crawford Camp for being the best Honor Guard a group of ladies could ask for.
