Baudette Depot The Baudette railroad depot--a place of constant movement, of joyous reunions and sad goodbyes, a place alive--yesterday and today. location and still is today.

Venmo Donations: The Depot photo was taken November 3, 1923, built by the Canadian Railway upon completion. There were two other Depot buildings built, one in 1901 and the other in 1908. Both were located nearer to the Rainy River and both were lost to fire. The new building was built nearer to down town and the community where it was an integral part of the Main Ave. The la

st passenger train rolled through Baudette in the late 1970's with the closing of the building in the mid 1980's. The Depot Preservation Alliance was organized in 1997. They received a grant from the Lake of the Woods County to replace the roof. A housing grant was also received from the city of Baudette to renovate the Train Master's apartment up stairs. It had not been occupied since the 1950"s. In 2008 a Federal Transportation Net Work History Grant administrated by MNDOT and the MN Historical Society was given for the majority of the restoration project. The balance of the funding came from NM Legacy Grant and Lake of the Woods County. The project was completed in December 2010.

First, thank you to everyone who has already donated! The community support has been incredible, and we truly appreciate it.

At this time, we are still able to accept:

✅ Kitchenware
✅ Tools
✅ Home décor
✅ Books
✅ Board games & puzzles
✅ Children's and baby clothing

We currently have plenty of adult clothing and are no longer accepting additional adult clothing donations.

To help ensure everyone has an opportunity to contribute and that we can comfortably manage and display items, we kindly ask that very large or bulk donations be kept reasonable.

A huge thank you to the Lake of the Woods 2nd Grade for the wonderful thank you cards after your visit to the Baudette Depot! They were so thoughtful and truly made our day.

The class was studying the 1910 Baudette–Spooner Fire at the time of their visit, which made the experience even more special. It’s been fun learning and sharing local history together!

We plan to display the cards this summer for visitors to enjoy as we hope to be open two days a week from June through August. Stay tuned for updates, hours, and events at the Depot!
