What does it mean to be a Legionnaire?

For many, military service ended with a DD-214.

For a Legionnaire, the commitment to God, Country, and Community never truly ends.

A Legionnaire understands that the oath to support and defend the Constitution is more than a moment in time—it is a lifelong commitment to preserving the principles that have made America the greatest nation on earth.

We continue to serve by mentoring our youth, honoring those who came before us, standing beside our fellow veterans, strengthening our communities, and ensuring that the values of duty, honor, sacrifice, and patriotism are passed to the next generation.

The American Legion isn't simply another veterans organization. It is a family of men and women who refuse to believe their service is over.

If you're an honorably discharged veteran who still believes in service above self, who loves this country, and who wants to make a difference in your community, we invite you to stand with us.

Do you have what it takes to be a Legionnaire?

If the answer is yes, we'd be honored to welcome you to American Legion Post 15.

Your country still needs you.

🇺🇸 American Legion Post 15 – Where the Action Is! 🇺🇸

Today was another outstanding day of learning, fellowship, and community service as we hosted RISE Workshop #2: Backyard Gardening at the Battle Mountain Veterans Hall!

We were thrilled to see a great turnout of community members, veterans, and even our own American Legion District 3 Commander join us for a morning focused on practical preparedness and self-reliance.

A special thank you goes to Master Gardener Robin Nelson, a fellow U.S. Air Force Veteran, who shared an incredible wealth of knowledge covering everything from soil composition and weather considerations to seed selection, garden planning, local edible and medicinal plants, companion planting, and so much more. Whether you're planting your very first garden or looking to improve an existing one, there was something valuable for everyone to take home.

Every participant received a USB drive loaded with over $500 worth of preparedness and gardening eBooks, ensuring the learning continues long after the workshop ends.

Congratulations to our raffle winner, who took home a $125 Heirloom Seed Vault—and in an incredible act of generosity, immediately donated it to the Battle Mountain Community Garden! 🌱👏 That simple act perfectly demonstrates what the American Legion is all about: neighbors helping neighbors and building stronger communities together.

The RISE (Readiness & Individual Skills Education) program continues to grow, and we're excited to announce that Workshop #3: Food Storage is coming up on Saturday, August 8th. We'll explore practical methods of preserving food, canning, dehydration, Mylar storage, long-term food rotation, and more. Stay tuned for additional details—we'd love to have you join us!

Thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered, and helped make today's workshop another success.

Prepare Today. Protect Tomorrow. Together, We RISE. 🇺🇸🌱💪

🇺🇸 FOR GOD & COUNTRY 🇺🇸
250 Years of American Independence
Two and a half centuries ago, ordinary men pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor to establish a nation unlike any the world had ever known—a nation founded upon liberty, faith, and the God-given rights of a free people.
Since that historic day, every generation of Americans has answered the call to preserve that precious inheritance.
From the Continental Soldiers at Lexington and Yorktown... to the Union Soldiers who preserved the Republic... from the Doughboys who carried freedom across Europe... to the Greatest Generation that defeated tyranny... and to the men and women serving today around the globe—the torch of liberty has never been allowed to fade.
The freedoms we celebrate this Independence Day were not inherited by chance. They were earned through courage, protected through sacrifice, and preserved by generations of Americans who believed that our nation was worth defending.
As members of the American Legion, we proudly honor every veteran who has stood the watch and every family who has borne the cost of freedom. Their service reminds us that liberty is not self-sustaining—it requires each generation to cherish it, defend it, and pass it on.
On this 250th Anniversary of American Independence, may we remember those who came before us, give thanks for the blessings of this great nation, and recommit ourselves to the ideals that have made America a beacon of hope for 250 years.
May God continue to bless the United States of America.
🇺🇸 Happy Independence Day from Battle Mountain American Legion Post 15.

🇺🇸 Serving Veterans. Strengthening Communities. 🇺🇸

Last week, Battle Mountain American Legion Post 15 Commander Sheldon Mudd traveled to Laughlin to represent both the members of Post 15 and the veterans of Lander County at the Department of Nevada American Legion Convention.

Throughout the convention, Legionnaires from across the Silver State discussed issues critical to Nevada's veterans, including pending veteran legislation, service and assistance programs, and initiatives focused on improving the health and well-being of those who have served.

Just prior to the convention, Commander Mudd was also elected District 3 Second Vice Commander, representing American Legion posts throughout Northeastern Nevada. It is an honor that will help ensure the voices of our rural veterans are heard at the state level.

"Many state initiatives seldom make their way to our rural communities; regardless, our local post is committed to assisting veterans while being an asset to the community and role models to our youth." – Sheldon Mudd

🇺🇸 Lander County Veterans — Your country still needs you.

Whether you can actively participate or simply lend your support through membership, your name on the American Legion roster strengthens our voice. When the American Legion advocates in Carson City and Washington, membership matters. There truly is power in numbers.

If you're a veteran in Lander County and have never joined—or it's time to renew—we invite you to stand with us as we continue serving veterans, mentoring youth, promoting patriotism, and strengthening our community.

Still Serving. Still Leading. Still Making a Difference.

🇺🇸 ATTENTION LANDER COUNTY VETERANS 🇺🇸

Your membership matters.

Even if work, family, or other commitments prevent you from actively participating, maintaining your membership in the American Legion strengthens our collective voice.

When the American Legion speaks in Washington, D.C., lawmakers pay attention to one thing above all else: membership. Every member represents another Veteran whose interests, benefits, and concerns deserve to be heard.

The stronger our membership is here in Lander County, the stronger our influence becomes at the state and national levels. Whether it's advocating for veterans' healthcare, benefits, national security, or support for our military families, numbers matter.

You may not always be able to attend meetings or events—and that's okay. Your membership alone helps ensure that Veterans continue to have a powerful seat at the table.

If your membership has lapsed, we encourage you to renew today. If you're eligible but haven't joined, now is the time.

Strong Post. Strong Community. Strong Voice.

🇺🇸 Happy 251st Birthday to the United States Army! 🇺🇸

From the frozen encampment at Valley Forge to the heights of San Juan Hill, from the forests of Bastogne to the streets of Mosul, the Soldiers of the United States Army have answered our Nation’s call since Day One.

Their courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment have shaped the course of history and secured the blessings of freedom for countless millions.

Today, we honor not only the Army itself, but every Soldier who has worn the uniform—past and present.

🪖 250+ years of service.
⭐ 250+ years of sacrifice.

🇺🇸 Happy Flag Day from American Legion Post 15! 🇺🇸

Today, we pay tribute to the most beautiful banner ever to fly over a free people—the Flag of the United States of America. Through war and peace, triumph and hardship, Old Glory has stood as a symbol of liberty, sacrifice, unity, and hope.

Each star represents our states. Each stripe reminds us of our nation's founding. And every fold carries the legacy of the brave men and women who have defended the freedoms it represents.

✨ May she continue to wave proudly over the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave for generations to come.

Take a moment today to look skyward, reflect on what our flag represents, and remember those who have served beneath her colors.

🇺🇸 God Bless Our Flag.
🇺🇸 God Bless Our Veterans.
🇺🇸 God Bless the United States of America.
