🌈 We love seeing spaces created for q***r youth in our community.

Wild Heart Society and Q***r Community Network are hosting a q***r high school dance designed to celebrate joy, connection, and being fully yourself.

If you know a high schooler who might enjoy this affirming space, check it out and help spread the word!

It's a ✨PARTY✨

This is a space to move, dance, hang out, connect, and be fully yourself.

Join us for a q***r high school youth dance designed to celebrate joy, embodiment, and community. No experience required, no pressure to perform — on the dance floor or in what you wear — and absolutely no one turned away for lack of funds, fits, or rhythm.

Come dance, hoop, vogue, craft, laugh, and take up space exactly as you are.

🌈 Who This Event Is For
-High school freshmen through seniors
- Q***r, trans, and questioning high schoolers — and allies
- Any high schooler who wants a joyful, affirming space to dance and connect

This is a pay-what-you-can event.

📚 Community Call to Action: Keep “Equity” in FVRLibraries’ Strategic Plan

Fort Vancouver Regional Libraries is finalizing its new five-year strategic plan — shaped by 2,500+ community members. But at last month’s meeting, some trustees pushed to remove the terms “equity” and “equitable access,” delaying the vote.

In libraries, equitable access is a long-standing principle:
➡️ making sure everyone — regardless of background, income, identity, ability, or location — can meaningfully use library services.
This includes things like bookmobiles for rural areas, different-sized branches offering different services, and programs tailored to community needs.

Equality = everyone gets the same thing.
Equity = everyone gets what they need to actually use the library.

Multiple advisory committee members — including the White Salmon Mayor and a Cowlitz Indian Tribe Elder — spoke strongly about why the word matters. As Elder Tanna Engdahl said:
“This brave little word, equity, should not be taken hostage.”

Now is the time for the supportive community to speak up.

📅 Library Board Meeting (Public Comment)
Monday, Dec 15, 2025 — 6:00 PM
📍 Vancouver Community Library

💻 Zoom: https://us06web.zoom.us/j/82151796387
📞 1 (971) 247-1195 | Meeting ID: 821 5179 6387 | Passcode: 664145

🗣️ How to Comment
To speak remotely: Email [email protected] or call 360-906-5011 by 1 PM Monday (name, phone, city, topic: “equity in the strategic plan”).

Written comments: Email [email protected] by 1 PM (approx. 2-minute length).

🌈 Why it matters
A small but organized anti-Drag Queen Story Hour / pro-censorship group has attended nearly every library board meeting since 2019. When supporters of inclusive, accessible libraries stay silent, it can look like the community agrees with efforts to remove language like equity.

Your presence — or even a brief written comment — helps show that our community supports access for all and wants libraries to remain welcoming, barrier-free public spaces.

👉 Talking points will be posted in the comments.

The terms “equity” and “equitable access” in FVRLibraries’ five-year strategic plan caused so much debate at last month’s meeting that the library district’s trustees decided to have a second reading
