🏳️‍🌈 We’re standing with kids.

Every kid deserves to feel safe, supported, and like they belong — at school, on their team, and in their community.

Evoke Cascadia is proud to support Stand With Kids, the Southwest Washington kickoff of the No Hate in WA State campaign.

Join us this Friday to learn more about Initiatives I-001 and I-638, what they would mean for Washington students, and how we can work together to protect the progress we've made toward making our schools welcoming and inclusive for all kids.

We're asking members of our community why rural Pride matters to them. Here's what one community member shared:

"Pride is important to me by being accepted and welcome for everyone."

Sometimes the simplest words say the most. At its heart, rural Pride is about creating a community where everyone can feel accepted, welcomed, and valued. When people know they belong, it strengthens our entire community.

💜 Why is Rural Pride Important to You? 🌈

We're asking members of our community why rural Pride matters to them. Here's what one community member shared:

"I live in a rural community and I have children who are part of the LGBTQIA+ community. Growing up, none of them felt safe coming out while they were in high school. As a parent, I know that their self-confidence and their sense of belonging would have greatly benefited from any sort of Pride recognition in their own community or at their schools. I wish they could have seen that there were neighbors and leaders and business owners within their small community that loved them, saw them, and supported them. PRIDE belongs in every community. No exceptions. I hope that someday it comes to mine and that I can be a part of that movement toward love."

For many parents, rural Pride is about the next generation. It's about making sure young people know they are seen, supported, and valued right where they live. When communities visibly show that LGBTQ+ people belong, it can help young people imagine a future where they don't have to choose between being themselves and feeling at home.

"BG Pride is important to me on so many levels. It connects you to your community. It connects you to local resources and organizations. It is a visible reminder to the city that the LGBTQ+ community is still here and will always be here. And lastly, it provides a fun and safe atmosphere for our community when so many of us don't feel safe anywhere."

Showing up sends a powerful message: our community is here, we care about one another, and everyone deserves a place where they can feel welcome.

"One of the reasons that Battle Ground Pride is so vital is because it shines as an opportunity for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community to see words in action in terms of local support, like the Passport where we get to know our local affirming, accepting, and active businesses and organizations, reminding participants to feel more united to the Battle Ground community at large.

Businesses are just one part of it all, it's also creating a space of joy, awareness, kindness, compassion, and safety through all the compassionate, safe, aware, and joyful people who attend. Since its beginning, Battle Ground Pride has learned year after year how to become an even more inclusive space, with the purpose of creating an event for those who live, go to school, play, and work alongside their friends, neighbors, and family here.

Battle Ground is home for so many of us, and the Battle Ground Pride event enriches the lives of our community."

We're asking members of our community why rural Pride matters to them. Here's what one community member shared:

"As a kid, I didn't know any trans people. Pride is important to me because trans kids should be able to see people like them, to know that we do become adults and live full lives unapologetically as ourselves."

No one should have to grow up wondering if there's a place for them in their own community. Rural Pride helps create that visibility, reminding transgender people, and everyone in the LGBTQ+ community, that they belong here just as they are.
