Calhoun County "Shop with a Cop" Program Local law enforcement agencies in the Calhoun County area are joining forces to help make the holidays a bit brighter for local children in need.

Local law enforcement agencies in the greater Battle Creek area are joining forces to help make the holidays a bit brighter. Working together the Michigan State Police, Battle Creek City Police, Calhoun County Sheriff’s Dept., Emmett Township DPS, Albion City DPS, Marshall City Police, Kellogg Community College Police, NHBPI Tribal Police and Veterans Administration Police are planning on bringing

holiday cheer to some local children. A list of children throughout the Calhoun County area is being provided by the Department of Human Services, and they will be invited to participate in the event in December. The day will start with the children meeting the police officers that they will be partnered with, and then taking a bus to Walmart. The bus will be given a police es**rt by numerous police cars, with lights flashing and sirens blaring. The children will each receive a gift card and will be helped to shop for gifts by their friends in uniform. When the shopping is complete the group will return back through town for a pizza party with their parents and new friends. The festivities will include gift wrapping and souvenir photographs, and possibly a visit from jolly St.Nick !!

The “Shop with a Cop” event is in progress and the shopping is almost complete, now on to some gift wrapping, lunch and some fun activities.

If any of the kids/families involved with the “Shop with a Cop” are missing their coat, we had one left behind. We also have their event t-shirt left with it. Please let us know and describe the coat and we will get it back to you.

The 13th annual “Shop with a Cop” was held Saturday and was a huge success! A very special Thank You to all the officers sponsors, volunteers, Shop with a Cop crew and other groups that gave their time and support to make this year amazing!!!! Looking forward to 2025!!!
