Tonight the Cupola glows Husker Red and Tampa Orange.

In honor of former Nebraska linebacker Lavonte David, who announced his retirement after a remarkable 14-year NFL career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

David finished his career with 1,714 tackles, 42.5 sacks, 14 interceptions, 33 forced fumbles, 21 fumble recoveries, and 3 defensive touchdowns, while helping lead Tampa Bay to a Super Bowl LV title. He retires as one of the greatest defenders in Buccaneers history and with a résumé that gives him a strong future Pro Football Hall of Fame case.

The Nebraska women’s basketball team punched their ticket with a First Four win last night, and the men followed it up with the first NCAA Tournament victory in program history.

Two teams. Two wins. One state behind them.

Nebraska men’s basketball earned a No. 4 seed in the NCAA Tournament, the program’s best seed since 1991 and one of the highest in school history.

The Huskers open March Madness tomorrow against Troy in first-round action.

Tonight, the cupola at Tandem Falls will glow red and black in remembrance of a program that meant so much to wrestling in Nebraska.

On March 11, 2011, the UNO Mavericks wrestling program was discontinued just one day after winning a national championship. A program built on decades of hard work, pride, and tradition came to an abrupt end, leaving a lasting mark on athletes, coaches, alumni, and wrestling communities across the state.

Tonight, we honor the wrestlers, coaches, and supporters who built that proud Maverick legacy. It also serves as a reminder to support the programs we love and never take them for granted.

The cupola will glow tonight in recognition of the Nebraska programs competing at the NAIA National Wrestling Championships.

We’re proud to support the athletes representing Concordia University, Doane University, Hastings College, and Midland University as they compete on the national stage.

Best of luck to all the wrestlers and teams competing this weekend. Nebraska is well represented.

Tonight the Tandem Falls cupola will glow orange and black in support of Afftynn Stusse as she competes at the inaugural NCAA Women’s National Championships.

Afftynn enters the tournament as the #8 seed at 110 pounds, with competition beginning tomorrow. We’re proud to light the tower in recognition of the hard work, dedication, and commitment she has shown over her career.

For the first time ever, both the U.S. Men’s and Women’s hockey teams won gold at the same Games, and both did it by defeating Canada.
