Southwest Michigan Veteran Relief Fund

Southwest Michigan Veteran Relief Fund Providing emergency assistance and support to area Veterans and their families in time of need.

The fund has served to keep many of our Veterans and their families warm, housed, and with food during emergency situations that have fallen upon them. This fund is one of the only funds available to assist wartime and non-wartime Veterans and is specifically intended to help Veterans who might not qualify for government funded financial relief programs. In addition to financial assistance, we col

laborate with other local support organizations such as the Michigan Veterans Trust Fund, the County Veteran Affairs Office, the Veterans Administration and other local Veteran service organizations. This allows us to guide Veterans to other resources as we work with them in obtaining the benefits they have earned. We are proud of the fact that over the past year this fund, administrated by all non-paid volunteers, provided over 10,000 dollars in assistance while spending less than 400 dollars for overhead (primarily for supplies). Our fund is supported by various fund-raising events, individual & group donations, and small grants that allow us to assist our Veterans in their time on need. We are always seeking donations to help sustain and grow this fund for the benefit of all Veterans and their families. The need for this fund continues to grow due to the increasing number of Veterans in need of housing, home & vehicle repair, and transportation.

Veteran’s Day is observed on November 11th for a significant reason. Originally known as Armistice Day, it was intended to commemorate the end of World War I and honor the exact moment the guns along the Western Front fell silent forever: 11 a.m. on the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918.

Wishing all veterans the honor and respect they deserve, not just today or tomorrow, but every single day.
