With these plummeting temps, those who are homeless are having a VERY hard time!! PLEASE consider donating hand/toe/body warmers the various shelters and/or blankets/pillows.

Area shelters are also expanding capacity and reducing restrictions during this time. Resources for those in need of a place to stay are:

Also there are some members of our community who are homeless, but still have pets. Those pets will prohibit them from staying in a shelter. It is my hope that if someone finds themselves in that situation, that they reach out on here and members of the community would be willing to step in and take their pet for a few days until the temps warm up a little!! If we all come together, we can make this better for those less fortunate!

If anyone needs last minute no or very low cost Halloween costumes here are a few ideas.

- M&M (wear a solid color shirt and tape a white m to it)
- Chef (wear an apron & carry a cooking utensil)
- Game Show Contestant (tape a name tag to your shirt and carry a buzzer or a sign that says “No whammies” or “I’d like to buy a vowel”)
- Lego (wear a solid color shirt and tape circles the same color to it in the shape of a Lego brick)
- Beanie baby (make a ty heart shaped tag out of paper or cardboard and pin it to a tie-dye shirt)
- John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmitt (Make a name tag with that name on it, tape it to a shirt. Do the same thing for each kid. When people ask why they are wearing the same costume they can say “His name is my name too” like in the song.)
- Wizard (wear a robe without the tie, make a cone-shaped hat out of paper, carry a stick for a wand)
- Athlete (anything worn for a sport)
- Zombie (use makeup to make scars/cuts, mess up your hair, walk with hands out in front of you)
- Vampire (use makeup to make them look paler and like blood is dripping down their chin- if asked where their vampire teeth are they can say they only appear when they get hungry)
- Author (carry a notebook and pencil to write down your stories or a book and pen for autographs)
