DeafLINK - Michigan

DeafLINK - Michigan Interpreting. Advocating. Connecting Hearing/Deaf Culture. Deaf Culture plays a key role in the lives of Deaf individuals.

Providing English / American Sign Language Interpreting services for communities within Central to SW Michigan. Advocating on behalf of Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and Deaf-Blind individuals through accomodations supported by the ADA, Michigan Law, and several other Laws for persons with disabilities. They share many commonalities and a unique set of social customs within their culture. DeafLINK inter

preters believe it is important to understand both Deaf Culture and Hearing Culture in order to facilitate full communication. DeafLINK engages in community outreach activities, and volunteerism with an emphasis on supporting the independence of individuals who associate themselves with Deaf culture as a way of being valued members within all our communities. Education offered to Interpreters through workshops, mentorship opportunities, and extended trainings to improve communication/language skills and to increase professional knowledge. Sign Language and Deaf Awareness classes also offered to community members and businesses.
