Since its inception in 1967, this event has honored over 1100 Baton Rougeans who devote their time and effort to fighting the battle against cancer. To date, the event has raised more than a $20 million dollars. This fun-filled celebration is designed to highlight Baton Rouge’s most iconic men and women, while carrying out the mission of serving our community.

Meet Stokka Brown.

Civil Engineer. Leader. Husband. Father. Cancer Survivor.

For Stokka, this year’s Capital Gala is more than a celebration. It’s personal.

At just 29 years old, with a young family at home, Stokka was diagnosed with testicular cancer. Because it was caught early, treatment was successful, but the experience forever changed his perspective on life, family, and the importance of early detection.

Today, nearly eleven years later, he is using his story to help raise awareness, support local cancer organizations, and ensure others facing a diagnosis have access to the care and resources they need.

When he’s not helping communities identify and reduce flood risk, you’ll find him spending weekends on the golf course with his boys, tackling projects at home, or stepping in to help someone in need.

His greatest accomplishment?
Being a loving husband and father to his two sons.

Interior designer. Entrepreneur. Mom. Creative spirit.

Claire’s style is simple, classic, and colorful, but her impact reaches far beyond beautiful spaces.

After moving to Baton Rouge to attend LSU, Claire built a successful career in design before launching her own interior design business while raising two young children. Today, she balances motherhood, entrepreneurship, and a growing career while designing spaces that help people feel at home.

For Claire, the mission of the Capital Gala is close to home. Having witnessed the impact of cancer on loved ones, she is passionate about supporting efforts that provide hope, healing, and critical resources to patients and families across our community.

When asked about her greatest accomplishment, her answer wasn’t a business milestone or design award. It was her family.

This year, Claire is stepping onto the Capital Gala runway to help fund cancer research, support local patients and families, and ensure hope continues for those facing the fight of their lives.

When Mack was 13 years old, he lost his mother to brain cancer. A single mom, incredible athlete, and one of the people who shaped who he is today.

The lessons she instilled and the impact sports had on his own life became the foundation for a mission that continues nearly two decades later: helping young athletes discover confidence, discipline, and opportunity through sports.

Meet Meredith Manship.

Chief Home Officer. Community advocate. Sports mom. Cancer fighter.

When Meredith received the call, her first response was, “How did this happen?” But once she learned she was being honored for her commitment to the community, her answer became an enthusiastic yes.

Behind that yes is a deeply personal story.
Cancer has touched generations of Meredith’s family. From her grandfather to cousins, nieces, and nephews, she has witnessed the impact firsthand. As a BRCA1 carrier herself, she made the difficult decision to undergo preventative surgeries in hopes of changing that story for her family.

This year, Meredith is sharing her journey to honor those she loves and help create hope for others.

A lifelong Baton Rougean, Whitney has built a career grounded in excellence, leadership, and service. Known for her classic style and unwavering conviction, she believes that what we do, the people we love, and the causes we champion should leave something meaningful behind.

Whitney is walking this year’s runway in honor of several loved ones who have faced cancer, including her parents and father-in-law, as well as those whose battles ended too soon. Her story is a reminder that behind every diagnosis is a family, a community, and a legacy worth fighting for.

Professionally, she is a respected leader. Personally, she is most proud of the family she has built and the impact she leaves on the people around her. Her passion is legacy. Making the path a little clearer, a little better, and a little more possible for those who come after us.
