Louisiana Lifespan Respite Coalition

Louisiana Lifespan Respite Coalition A volunteer coalition of providers, caregivers and community advocates making sure those who care individuals with special needs in the home get a break.

There are nearly one million adults who are the primary means of care and support for children, adults with disabilities or older adults in Louisiana, and unfortunately not many individuals or adults to help these family caregivers who provide more than 600 million hours of care in a year! To correct that, the Louisiana Lifespan Respite Coalition invites your organization to join more than 100 pat

ient organizations and non-profits meeting to improve supports for the family caregiver in Louisiana. The long-term goal of the coalition is building supports, such as senior citizen respite centers and in-home respite or other resources for those who assist adults and children with disabilities, illness or the impact of aging. However, the first step may be getting those who provide the care to realize their important roles in the family and their own needs. The Louisiana Lifespan Respite Coalition hopes to take the first step in better coordinating existing respite programs, identifying service gaps, and improving access to services for those caring for children or adults with special needs.
