When preparations began for Barristers' Bowl XIV, the commissioners and cheerleader captains set a goal of raising $10,000 for this year's charity, Geaux Teal. With the help of our longtime sponsorship partner, Campus Federal, we were very proud to make the check presentation today to Coach Beth Torina and the rest of the women from Geaux Teal for $13,100!!!

Thank you again to everyone involved and all of our generous contributors to this donation!!!

The Commissioners and Cheerleader Captains of Barristers' Bowl XIV are thrilled to announce that we were able to raise $13,100 through the game and auction. We will be making our donation to Geaux Teal tomorrow, March 26th at 11:30 A.M. on the steps of the Law School facing the parade grounds.

We'd love to have as many players and cheerleaders possible there for the check presentation and photo opportunity. Players please bring you jerseys to wear during the photo and cheerleaders please bring your poms.

Thank you to everyone that participated and contributed to this year's fundraising efforts! We couldn't do this without our sponsors, faculty and community donors, and of course the students of PMH!

Congratulations to Gold Team for their 7-0 victory over Purple! It was a gritty defensive struggle, but MVP Kevin Fouquier II broke the game open with this plunge over the top late in the 3rd quarter.

Photos and videos have now been uploaded. Apologies, but the video camera ran out of battery before the 2nd half started.

Thanks again to everyone who participated in the game as players and cheerleaders and all of the supporters who attended.

PMH homegirl "hbrewbrew" has asked me to list some of the insanely desirable items that will be available for bidding at Saturday's auction, which will take place after the ultra competitive football game has expired. See below:

1. Dean Galligan: Dinner for 4 at Tsunami with Dean & his wife. ("Can I order a drink at dinner with the dean?")

2. Professor Baier: Inscribed copy of his book, "Speeches," and a visit to his museum. (Or you can just walk up to his office)

3. TreadBR: Private class and shopping party for up to 18 people. (Enjoy the childhood pastime of bike-riding! Except you're inside and sitting completely still)

4. Fuzzy's: Unlimited margaritas for one person for a year. One margarita per day. (You have crippling alcoholism)

5. Professors Carroll & Brooks: Usual dinner and margs for up to 4 people. (Sounds relaxing)

6. Barrister's Ball tickets. (You don't have a date)

7. Club Level Tix to LSU Baseball game. (Cleat chasers only [i.e. all Barristers' Bowl cheerleaders])

8. Yogalates. (Pretend to give a single sh*t about your health. Namaste)

9. Ci**rs & Bourbon with Professor Trahan. (Buzz so hard you'll puke for 3 and a half hours)

We ask that each of these items go for a minimum of $10,000 each. See you Saturday.

TBD: Jacquelyn Duhon's presence at this year's game is wholly contingent upon John Cook leaving his hermitage.

Stay tuned. And remember, whether you're a cheer captain or in the bleachers, come out and support this year's game for a good cause.

Future mayor John Cook plans on getting all bundled up to watch his favorite cheerleader. Not a bad idea there, John! We hope you (and Jackie) can make it

Story

LSU Law Barrister’s Bowl is a full-contact football game between LSU Law students. The annual game, and following auction, is a philanthropic event that raises money for various charities. LSU Law students form the Purple and Gold Teams that compete in the game as well as the cheerleading squad which performs at halftime. The tradition, under the direction of first Commissioner Jayson Durden, was started back in 2005, with Purple team winning 38 - 34. There have been many competitive games over the years, with last year’s Purple Team pulling out the victory.

Barrister’s Bowl XIV is donating its funds to Geaux Teal, a charitable organization that raises money for ovarian cancer awareness, increased education, and research. Geaux Teal was founded by LSU Softball Coach Beth Torina and has very close ties to LSU and the Baton Rouge community.
