Today is officially Flag Day! The General Philemon Thomas Chapter of Baton Rouge, La Society SAR awarded Andrew and Ina Navarre an official Flag Certificate at the June chapter meeting. They properly display the American flag, which includes nighttime lighting. If you know of anyone that deserves recognition for their proper display of the flag, please contact Patriotism Chairman Derrick Spell.

This morning, our chapter celebrated Flag Day at the Louisiana's Old State Capitol. We were informed about the flags flown over LA by Compatriot Christopher Achee and the American Flag by Compatriot Eddie Vaughn.

Several General Philemon Thomas Chapter of Baton Rouge, La Society SAR Compatriots presented the Patriots Chest and held a Boston Tea Party Tea Tasting for history educators from across the state today. We thank Louisiana Public Broadcasting and the Capitol Park Museum for this special opportunity!

Congratulations to Dr. James Gregory of the William A. Brookshire LSU Military Museum! He was presented the SAR Bronze Good Citizenship Medal on Friday by Patriotism Committee Chairman Derrick Spell. He also gave a great lecture on LSU’s Duval brothers, who served in WWII. Thank you for everything you do for our community Dr. Gregory!

Congratulations to our newest General Philemon Thomas Chapter of Baton Rouge, La Society SAR Compatriot Davis Carlin! He was inducted into the society yesterday by President Jim Moffatt and given his SAR rosette by Registrar Derrick Spell. Davis’s patriot is Joseph Carlin, a soldier in the Attakapas Militia.

Congratulations to Baton Rouge Police Department Corporal Jermaine T. Javius for receiving the SAR Life Saving Medal today! Corporal Javius acted quickly in April and helped save an infant’s life in Towne Center. He was joined today by Baton Rouge Police Department Chief Thomas Morse and Lieutenant Lonny Miller.
