Fighting cancer isn’t just about raising money. Our Cancer Action Network works with ACS staff and volunteers to keep urging our law makers to keep cancer research and prevention a priority!

We know when cancer prevention tests are covered lives are being SAVED and research is finding new ways to treat cancer. Thank you to all the staff andvolunteers who stepped in to make this happen!

Moments ago, Congress passed the most impactful cancer-fighting bill in years. It happened thanks to cancer advocates like you who refused to back down!

Together, you sent more than 120,000 messages, made phone calls, and took to social media to urge lawmakers to reject cuts and invest in cancer research. They heard you, and they did.

Your advocacy made a difference: This bill becoming law means more people can be screened for cancer earlier, get treatment sooner, and have a better chance to survive and thrive.

Thank you for everything you do. ❤️

“Before I was diagnosed with cancer, I always worried about, and stressed over, every little thing. I felt if everything wasn’t perfect, people would judge me,” noted stage 3C ovarian cancer survivor Jen Vitti. “Being diagnosed changed all of that. I now realize that everything doesn’t need to be perfect… I believe things happen for a reason, and for me maybe having cancer was a lesson to enjoy life and take time for myself.”

Following her diagnosis in January 2022, Jen underwent six surgeries, six rounds of chemotherapy, and had several organs removed after cancer had spread to eleven different places in her body.

“I had absolutely no pain at all and didn’t have any signs that would have made me feel like I had anything seriously wrong,” she stated. “It’s important that you always go to all of your annual doctor appointments and stay current with your cancer screenings. If you do get diagnosed, remember that no matter how hard your journey might be, you need to stay positive and never give up!”

Screening tests are used to find cancer before a person has any symptoms. Screening can often find and treat pre-cancers and cancers early, before they have a chance to spread. Talk with your doctor about which screening tests are right for you. Learn more at cancer.org/getscreened.
