What a great Fall Meeting for SCOAR! Thursday’s final sessions delivered high-impact strategies on leadership, safety, and operational excellence to help our members end the event on a high note.
NCCER’s Jennifer Wilkerson kicked off the morning with essential insights on developing effective foremen through structured leadership training, followed by a session presented by Tops Safety Program Award Winner Quanta Power Solutions’ Brandon Greer and Nolan Gilley. “The Capacity Model” a program implemented to fundamentally transform how safety is managed within high-risk construction and utility operations. This model acknowledges that human error is inevitable and shifts the focus toward building the organizational and operational capacity to anticipate, absorb, and safely manage failure. Lance Simons from Haskell shared how their design-build approach on the Orlando Health project earned the 2026 TOPS Award, while John Massie from Forvis Mazars tackled contractor technology, proving that adoption, not tech itself, is the real differentiator.
Our annual Silent Auction was also a tremendous success, with generous donations from DeWalt, East & Westbrook, and Victaulic. The auction helps support SCOAR’s scholarship program, making it possible to invest in the next generation of industry professionals.
