It Takes A Village BR It Takes A Village BR is a nonprofit organization devoted to serving the Greater Baton Rouge community.

What began with a cooked meal and a conversation with caring volunteers soon evolved into trusted relationships – creating family and community where there were none. As we faithfully work to provide food and clothing and promote dignity to our homeless neighbors, lives are transformed and spirits are lifted... all in efforts to build a network of resources to lift them off the streets. Relieving

immediate hunger is fundamental step towards emotional and spiritual healing; earning an income; making a home; and developing healthy relationships. With dignity and respect, our caring volunteers prepare and deliver wholesome meals, clothing essentials, and hygiene products to our homeless brothers and sisters.

Today was such a beautiful day, so many people came out in celebration of JT's birthday. Family, friends, and people from all over this community came out today in his honor and to honor his commitment to giving back to those in need. Thank you to everyone who donated their time, their money, and their talents to make today so successful. I'm not going to even try to tag everyone because I know I will leave someone out.

I know I am not alone when I say that I think about you all of the time. I think about the last time I saw you, you were backing out of Effum's and didn't see me. I was immediately overcome with grief and was so confused by the feeling. I brushed it off as pregnancy hormones, but less than 36 hours later, you were gone. Knowing what I know now, I will always regret not running out the door and flagging you down.

Happy Heavenly Birthday, Justin! We all miss you and love you. I think that was evident today. I just hope you were able to feel that love.

In partnership with and the Justin Thomas Foundation, .djsbatonrouge, and , will be returning to honor the life and light of Justin "JT" Thomas on September 29th.

Please join us at 136 St Vincent DePaul Drive for a special community outreach to celebrate Justin's heavenly birthday and honor his commitment to serving our community's less fortunate.

We will be serving a hearty lunch, providing the Village with hygiene products, and much more.

We will, however, NOT be accepting clothing donations for this event!

Donations of time, talent, or hygiene products are greatly appreciated.

Please dm if you have a talent that you would like to donate.
