The annual weekend-long, fast-paced, PASS Blood Bank Exam Review occurred April 18-19, 2026 with over 80 attendees. PASS is an acronym for Prepare Attain Succeed Specialize and is designed for individuals preparing to take the ASCP Board of Certification Examination in the SBB or BB category, and for physicians who are preparing for the American Board of Pathology Examination in Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine.
The PASS Blood Bank Exam Review is offered through a partnership between the South Central Association of Blood Banks (SCABB) and Versiti. The two organizations alternate hosting responsibilities each year. In 2026, Versiti served as the host organization, with the event originally planned to take place in Indianapolis, Indiana. However, the program was transitioned to a fully virtual format.
Despite the change in format this year, the review course attracted strong participation, with 83 individuals registering for the event. The continued collaboration between Versiti and SCABB helps ensure access to high-quality educational resources for professionals pursuing certification and specialization in blood banking and transfusion medicine—in fact an attendee informed SCABB/Versiti they PASSed the SBB board of certification exam and, in part, contributed their success to the PASS Blood Bank Exam Review 😊
