Introducing our Seizure Safe Communities Series!

Creating a more seizure-safe community starts with education, awareness, and knowing what to do when someone is having a seizure. Throughout this series, we’ll be sharing important tips and information to help our communities feel more prepared and confident when responding to seizures.

First up: TRUST

🔹 Turn the person on their side
🔹 Remove objects or glasses
🔹 Use something soft under their head
🔹 Stay calm and stay with the person
🔹 Time the seizure

Knowing these simple steps could make a meaningful difference when someone needs help. Want to learn even more? Sign up for our full seizure first aid training and gain the knowledge and confidence to respond safely during a seizure!

Happy National Dog Day to everyone's favorite spokesdog, Toulouse!💜

Through her work, Toulouse helps bring comfort, support, and awareness to those impacted by epilepsy. Whether she’s greeting visitors, spreading smiles at EAL events, or simply being there when someone needs a little extra encouragement, Toulouse reminds us that sometimes the smallest moments of connection can make the biggest difference.

As a service animal, Toulouse plays an important role in supporting her mom, Stephanie, while also helping EAL educate, advocate, and build awareness throughout Louisiana. Today we celebrate Toulouse and all she provides for the community and her family. 🎊

We had a great morning on August 13 providing Seizure First Aid & Safety Training for faculty, staff, and students with the LSU College of Human Sciences & Education’s Integrative Community Studies Program!

We’re grateful for the opportunity to share practical information that helps people recognize seizures, respond safely, and feel more confident when someone needs help. Several participants had to run before we could grab the group photo, but we were happy to capture a few of the professors, assistant professors, and a graduate student who joined us for the training.

Thank you for welcoming Epilepsy Alliance Louisiana and for helping us build a more seizure-safe community across Louisiana! 💜
