In our final story installment of Louisiana Young Heroes, meet Maylie Stanley of Glenmora, a Senior at Pineville High School.

As the Louisiana Teens Speak Up! representative through the Epilepsy Foundation Louisiana, she shares her journey emphasizing the need for increased research funding, expanded education, and improved access to care for individuals living with epilepsy. She is a strong advocate for implementing Seizure First Aid and epilepsy awareness in all schools.

Meet LPB’s next 2026 Louisiana Young Hero, Andrew Chambers, a Junior at Loreauville High School in New Iberia. Although Andrew was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, he does not let this stop him from helping others. Watch his story here!:

Meet LPB’s next 2026 Louisiana Young Hero, Andrew Chambers, a Junior at Loreauville High School in New Iberia. His story will be featured on this week’s Louisiana: The State We’re In. Watch Friday at 7pm and Sunday at 5pm. lpb.org/swi

Andrew Chambers was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, but he does not let this stop him from helping others. He helps at-risk teens through the Teen Court program. When Andrew learned his Acadian, French, and Spanish ancestors were Revolutionary Patriots, he was inspired to become a reenactor for the Daughters of the American Revolution America 250 programs. Andrew also challenged himself to play football!
In all that Andrew does, he serves as a role model for his peers and mentors alike. Watch his story Friday at 7pm!

John is co-founder of The Parker Storylight Foundation, a nonprofit he created with his sister to promote literacy. They have distributed more than 800 books to Title I schools. Among his many leadership roles, he served on the Louisiana Legislative Youth Advisory Council and was elected Parliamentarian, is chapter president of the National Honor Society, and was chosen as one of two representatives from his school to attend American Legion Boys State.
