💛 Spreading Joy, One Card at a Time 💛
On Thursday, April 2nd, a few of our Kiwanis Club of Central members had the privilege of delivering something truly special — handmade cards created by the little hands of our local elementary students. 🐣🎨
These weren’t just cards… they were smiles, love, and connection shared with residents at Central Guest House and The Claiborne. From colorful Easter drawings to heartfelt messages, each one reminded us how powerful simple acts of kindness can be.
Moments like these are what Kiwanis is all about — bridging generations, uplifting our community, and making sure everyone feels seen and remembered.
A big thank you to the students who poured their hearts into these creations and to our members who took the time to deliver them. 💙

Love was definitely in the air Friday as the Kiwanis Club of Central spread joy through our Valentine’s Project Cupid, led by Kiwanis member Tyler Hales.

We were graciously hosted and guided by the teams at and , where we had the honor of delivering over 200 handmade Valentine’s Day cards to their residents.

Each card was thoughtfully crafted by the talented student artists of and . Little hands drew colorful pictures, wrote heartfelt notes, and carefully placed stickers — sharing kindness with neighbors they may never meet, yet deeply touch.

We are especially grateful to the teachers and school leaders who made space in their classrooms for this project. Thank you for allowing time, encouraging creativity, and promoting meaningful community connections. Because of you, these students learned that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference.

The smiles we witnessed were priceless. Laughter echoed down the halls. Stories were shared. Hands were held.

Especially sweet moments came when little Rosie handed out a single rose in honor of her dad, Tyler, and the special bond he shared with his grandmother. Rosie became an instant highlight of the day, brightening the heart of her 91-year-old new friend at The Claiborne. It was a beautiful reminder that love truly bridges generations.

Project Cupid was more than just cards — it was connection. It was compassion. It was community.

Thank you to our student artists, our dedicated educators, our incredible host facilities, and our Kiwanis volunteers who continue to serve with heart.

💙

What a meaningful way to start the day! 💙
Members of the Kiwanis Clubs of Central and Ascension teamed up at the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank to help fight hunger in our community. Together, we packed 517 food boxes for families in need and helped organize pallets of cereal and drinks for distribution.

The morning was filled with teamwork, laughter, a little music, and a lot of smiles—reminders of what can happen when people come together to serve. We’re grateful for everyone who gave their time and energy and proud of our continued commitment to serving as a group each quarter.

Thank you to all who made a difference today—this is Kiwanis in action. 💪💙

Kiwanian Spotlight: Ms. Trudy “K Mom”

Some people don’t just show up, they pour in.
Ms. Trudy, affectionately known as “K Mom” to so many of us, is one of those people.

After spending several hours on her feet alongside the Central Police Department and the Kiwanis Club of Central, passing out toys and spreading joy, she still wasn’t done. Ms. Trudy went the extra mile by bringing additional gifts and donations to the children’s hospital, making sure even more kids felt the love of the season.

Her heart for service, her selflessness, and her constant willingness to give more than expected are just a few of the reasons she was unanimously chosen as Kiwanian of the Year for 2025.

Ms. Trudy, thank you for being the kind of servant leader who inspires everyone around you. Our club, our community, and our kids are better because of you.

To wrap up the Central Police Department’s annual toy giveaway, some of the leftover toys were donated to Hope Community Outreach so they can be passed on to families in need.

The Kiwanis Club of Central is grateful to be part of a community that makes sure no gift and no family is left behind. This is what service and compassion look like in action.
