Raven S. Lyons, MBA, MSHCM, PTA is a Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant, graduate of the class of 2020 at Delgado Community College in New Orleans, LA, who currently serves as the Licensing Manager at LCMC Health. She provided comprehensive outpatient care, treating a wide range of conditions including orthopedic, neurologic, post-surgical, and sports-related injuries to persons of all ages in the greater New Orleans area. A champion of empathy and empowerment, Raven believed that an informed patient is an empowered patient — a philosophy that continues to guide her work today. A proud product of higher education with five college degrees, she brings a unique blend of clinical expertise and healthcare leadership to everything she does.

"I've been connected to this association since 2019 as a student member, and it has been a cornerstone of my professional journey ever since. From being elected to the board in 2021 to serving as the PTA member on the Louisiana Physical Therapy Board — appointed by Governor John Bel Edwards — and most recently being reelected as PTA Council Representative in 2024 with a term through 2027, this work fuels me. What I love most is being at the table, advocating for the interests of PTAs here in Louisiana and across the country through APTA. Representation matters, and I'm committed to making sure our voices are heard."

Smart planning goes beyond finances.

people age 45 to 54 are over 20% more likely to book a physical therapy visit than consult a financial planner when thinking about their future well-being?

For people in their 40s to early 60s, life is full — and staying strong matters. Physical therapy helps adults in midlife stay active, independent, and ready for whatever comes next. And you do not need a physician’s referral to see a physical therapist.

⭐Get to know your Continuing Education Chair, Dana Segraves, PT, DPT ! ⭐

Dana is a physical therapist who currently serves as the supervisor for the Neuro Rehab Center at Touro and the Residency coordinator for the Touro Neuro PT Residency. She received her DPT in 2009 from MGH Institute of Health Professions in Boston and her Neurological Clinical Specialist Certification in 2020. In her free time Dana enjoys running and Cajun dancing. She lives in New Orleans with her husband and 2 children.

"Serving as the continuing education chair has been a wonderful experience over the last 3 years. Volunteering for the association has been a great learning experience. Being part of a community that advocates for our profession as well as better outcomes for our clients and patients is motivating and inspiring."

Pregnancy and postpartum bring big changes. However, more than 60% of expecting mothers are missing out on physical therapy, a key support for birth prep and postpartum recovery. And you do not need a physician’s referral to see a physical therapist.

Alongside Physical Therapy Association, we want to encourage new and expecting moms to feel stronger, reduce pain, and reconnect with their bodies through a personalized health and wellness plan for every stage of the journey.
