Born out of the beach weekend known as “Gypsy Shipwreck”, Romany’s 1st Book Club gathering is officially in the books! We hashed out the highs and lows of Katherine Stockett’s “The Calamity Club” and now move onto “Theo of Golden”! Thanks to our lovely hostess and gypsy sister, Amanda LeBlanc, for organizing us and hosting!

A windy but beautiful day provided a great start to our second ever Krewe Of Romany golf tournament. Very grateful to the  24 golfers who participated and to Maria, Marc, and Tournament Pro Jordan Rowland for organizing the tournament and to Kim Mitchell for making the T-shirts and towels and organizing the swag bags and to King Bobby LXXIII for cooking the most amazing jambalaya ever! Seriously, the best ever!! Marc’s “secret recipe” Chex mix was a wonderful surprise in the swag bags for the snacky golfers.

Huge thanks to Dick’s Sporting Goods for their support!

Very grateful to all of the volunteers and to the Royal Court for assisting with hydration needs of our golfers! Thank you you to Alyssa and Santa Maria golf course for allowing us to use the clubhouse for our gatherings!

Thanks to golfers and everyone who bought an event T-shirt!
Net proceeds benefit our philanthropy! 

Icing on the cake: our 20 Royal Court Pages and their parents/grandparents hosted a lemonade stand to supplement hydration and to support our philanthropy. The kids hustled over $200 to support our philanthropy.

Later in the day, Carla and Joey Brown and their team organized a wonderful silent auction which provided for at least half of our goal of $10,000 to support breast cancer research. Thank you to the wonderful donors and bidders!!

The fall party which provides for the annual recognition of new members completed the day.  The board members transformed the clubhouse into  a space to recognize our philanthropic purpose: supporting breast cancer outreach and research!!

Ball Captain Collette Lambert was humbled by the support and participation of so many Krewe members and would like to express her deep appreciation and affection to all!

Tomorrow, Saturday, October 10, promises to be a gorgeous fall day with sunshine and temperatures in the mid-80s — perfect weather to join us at Santa Maria Golf Course for the Krewe of Romany Golf Tournament, Silent Auction & Annual Fall Party!

Plus this year, the Royal Court pages will host a lemonade stand as part of their contribution to the Krewe Philanthropy supporting breast cancer research !

GYPSY SHIPWRECK WEEKEND

What happens when more than 30 Krewe members and friends head to Gulf Shores for a beach weekend?
maybe a “Gypsy Shipwreck”!

After some of our couples Krewe-sed in April on a trip termed “Gypsies on the High Seas”, the “never-to-be-the-same” ship cruised back around the Gulf of America and “crashed” on the beaches of Gulf Shores—and what a wonderful shipwreck it was!

Krewe members were absolutely thrilled with the crash site! Expert trip planner Svend Waltman found another beautiful house capable of accommodating 42 gypsy sisters!

The weekend was filled with friendship, laughter and plenty of fun games, including a fundraiser for 2027 Ball Captain Collette Lambert’s philanthropy, Bust Breast Cancer. (Fifteen dollars from every commemorative pink T-shirt purchased went directly to the cause. That was $525! Thank you, gypsies!) Special thanks to Krewe member Kim Mitchell for donating time and energy to the tee shirt initiative!

In addition, $125 of undisbursed trip funds, i.e., the “Gypsy Shipwreck Treasure Chest”, were donated to the 2027 Philanthropy.

Goodie bags from the Ball Captain included some beach essentials. Svend treated everyone to a seashell painting kit. Past Ball Captains Kim M and Heather St. G gifted commemorative w**e glasses to the attendees.

The Krewe gypsies continued celebration of the 250th anniversary of the founding of our country with a patriotic day honoring American freedoms.

On the final evening, krewe members and friends dressed as their favorite goddesses and enjoyed an amazing Mediterranean-style meal!

One of the two grand finale evening “performances” featured Amanda LeBlanc, Amanda Pearson and Megan Dewberry performing a special acapella ballad to the tune of the Gilligan’s Island theme song. The amazing performance was followed by a hilarious skit performed by several Krewe members under the creative direction of board member Carla Brown. The plot followed the shipwrecked gypsies making their way to the 2027 ball.

The Ball Captain was deeply touched and the entire goddess audience was exceedingly entertained.

The special weekend with a truly special group of women incited a clamor for another trip in 2027! 💕🏖️🇺🇸

NEW MEMBERS WELCOMED INTO THE ROMANY TRADITION

Seventy-Seven Years of Myth, Merriment and Sisterhood

On August 16, the Krewe of Romany welcomed its newest members during a special orientation celebrating the traditions that have kept the organization strong for 77 years.

New members learned about Romany’s rich history and the customs that continue to guide the Krewe from one generation to the next. At the heart of Romany is the whimsical world of mythical gypsies and the beloved gypsy camp scene—a tradition rooted in imagination, fellowship and merriment.

As these newest members begin their Romany journey, they become part of a remarkable legacy built upon friendship, tradition and the enduring spirit of the gypsy camp.

Annual Queen’s Tea

Queens Romany LXXVI and LXXVII, Amelia and Adrienne Lambert, hosted the Queen‘s Tea on April 19, 2026 honoring Queen Romany LXXVII Bella McGucken.
Several Romany Queens joined the celebration and mentoring.
