Annual Queen’s Tea

Queens Romany LXXVI and LXXVII, Amelia and Adrienne Lambert, hosted the Queen‘s Tea on April 19, 2026 honoring Queen Romany LXXVII Bella McGucken.
Several Romany Queens joined the celebration and mentoring.

Krewe of Romany Annual Spring Coffee and Sketch Tea

🌹☕🏇 Krewe of Romany Spring Coffee & Derby Celebration 🏇☕🌹

On May 2, 2026, Krewe members gathered at the beautiful home of Jennifer and Jay Ratelle for our Annual Spring Coffee. Breaking with tradition, this year’s event welcomed spouses and was held in the afternoon to coincide with the excitement of the Kentucky Derby.

Members arrived dressed in their finest Derby attire, creating a festive atmosphere filled with elegant hats, colorful fashions, and plenty of Southern charm. The afternoon provided an opportunity for members to view Krewe costumes, sign us for dance groups, committees, and parties.

Attendees also had the opportunity to view the current year merchandise which included a new Royal Court Collection as well as the option to select the historic gypsy camp scene on embroidered merchandise. Merchandise orders will remain open through August, with final orders being collected alongside Ball order forms.

Immediately preceding the Coffee, Ball Captain Collette Lambert hosted a private reveal of the Royal Court costumes individually to each of the members of the Royal Court, offering an exciting first glimpse of the spectacular designs planned for the coming year.

After much anticipation, King Romany LXXVII was announced and Queen Romany LXXVII and then Royal Court Maids were introduced to the Krewe members.

As if the afternoon wasn’t exciting enough, Derby fans witnessed one of the biggest surprises in recent memory as a longshot captured the Run for the Roses, proving once again that anything can happen on Derby Day!

Thank you to Jennifer and Jay Ratelle for their gracious hospitality and to everyone who joined us for an afternoon which truly embodied the Spirit of Romany!

Krewe member Ann Campbell and her children express their sincere gratitude for the support shown by so many Krewe Of Romany members who attended the funeral of Pressley Campbell. 41 years of marriage. Press was a giant in his field of civil engineering, but even more impressive was his devotion to his three children / adopted great grandchildren. So much love! We were blessed to have known Press.

2027 Ball Captain hosted a Royal Court social at The Carriage House at Houmas House  Plantation. The Royal Court Queen and Maids enjoyed the weekend together.

Royal Court Pages Pinning and Pool Party

Despite the intermittent showers, 17 of the 18 Royal Court pages and families celebrated with a Mediterranean-themed pool party at the home of the 2027 Ball Captain, Collette Lambert.

The Pages received their “Page 2027”pins and several gifts. Maple’s Snoballs served unlimited snowballs, which thrilled the children…some boasting eating as many as 4!

In addition, Queen Romany LXXVII Bella McGucken and King Romany LXXVII Dr Phillip Barksdale and all of the Royal Court Maids,  Vanessa Anders, Alice Barrios, Kate Duvernay, Corinne Freel, Lauren, Pearson, and Hannah Russell joined in the celebration of the Royal Court pages. 

The Ball Captain had an exciting moment when all water guns were locked and loaded (and subsequently unloaded ) on her as she attempted to obtain a photograph of the little darlings.

Our hearts are broken as we must say goodbye to a cherished friend and devoted Krewe of Romany member. Toni’s 2014 Ball vision, “A Night at the Cabaret”, was a beautiful testimony to her love of dancing. Her daughter, Kelsey, was presented as the “Rock of Ages” Royal Court Maid in 2015 in “Back to Broadway” and later reigned as Queen Romany LXXVIII in 2021-2022 in “A Taste of Romany”. Her husband, Brant, reigned as King Romany LXXVI for the Krewe’s 75th “Glitz and Glam” Diamond Jubilee flanked by grandsons Bennett and Kyle as Royal Court Pages. Toni hosted countless parties and meetings for the Krewe. In an important support role she served in 2024, she was again the current Special Advisor to the 2027 Ball Captain.
Her love for the Krewe knew no bounds.
Her impact on the Krewe was significant.
Her passion for pageantry was deep.
She will forever be
“In the Spirit of Romany”.

Looking forward to seeing Krewe members AND SPOUSES in their best Derby attire at the Annual Spring Couples' Coffee and Kentucky Derby Viewing Party starting at 3 PM on Saturday. (Please see the Krewe newsletter for details, including sign-up for contributions to table ready fare. )

In addition to gathering our wonderful members, this gathering will provide an opportunity to meet and greet Queen and King Romany LXXVII and the Royal Court Maids, select ball dance number and krewe costumes (JBG will be there to ensure exact sizing), sign up for activities and committees , view and purchase this year's merchandise, settle up Annual Dues Obligation -any balances are now due by 5/15, and participate in fun 🏇Derby🐎games.

This years logo apparel will be available for sale and orders will be taken! Plus, we'll have lots of our secret themed merchandise available as well. ...
And we have a little something "up our sleeve" for past Royals!

☘️ Krewe of Romany St. Patrick’s Day Tailgate ☘️

What a beautiful day in City Park celebrating the St. Patrick’s Day parade with our Krewe of Romany family! The weather was absolutely perfect all day long, and it made for the best afternoon to gather together.

So many of our krewe members came out with their families to enjoy the tailgate before the parade rolled through. There was great food, lots of laughter, and plenty of green as we celebrated together.

A very special thank you to 2024 Ball Captain Kim Mitchell for planning and securing our premium parade route spot every year — we are so lucky to have such a great location! And thank you to 2025 Ball Captain Heather St. Germain and Board Member Kristi Hammett, who arrived before sunrise to set up everything.

Your dedication help make traditions like this possible. The Krewe of Romany is truly a family, and days like this remind us how special that is.
