The Honors Board of Advocates (the “HBA”) is an organization whose members compete in regional and national mock trial competitions to help its members hone their advocacy skills. The HBA maintains a standard of 100% competition participation for all members to ensure we reach our goal of excellence in advocacy. Giving to HBA will help the Board uphold our standard by allowing us to register and travel to mock trial competitions, purchase demonstratives and materials for competitors, honor our advocates with an induction ceremony, and support the competition teams with food and other needs during daily trial preparation. Our competition teams meet day and night for several weeks preparing for trial competitions and we want to give them the upmost support. Your generous donation will help us tremendously in our efforts to win mock trial competitions for SULC to continue our tradition of excellence in advocacy.

Congratulations to our amazing trial team who won two of three rounds at the MLK National Trial Competition this weekend. Although they did not advance to the semifinal round, they displayed outstanding oral advocacy skills. The team consisted of Brandon Johnson, Melody McCombs, Cayman Angelle, and Bashar Saleh. Congrats on an amazing performance. We are extremely proud of you and all the hard work you put into preparing for this competition!!

We are extremely proud of HBA member and Hennessy Fellow, Eryn Wells, who received $7,000 from the Thurgood Marshall College Fund () after pitching her capstone project for the Hennessy program, "TOT Innovations.”

TOT Innovations is an organization that develops innovative solutions to enhance child development by supporting their safety and wellbeing from birth to big kid. TOT Innovations has a philanthropic focus of promoting the welfare of children from underserved communities and will donate to good causes that are aligned with that mission.

In January, TOT Innovations will launch their first initiative, TOT Transportation. When leaving the hospital with a newborn baby, low socioeconomic & minority parents face disproportionate access to car seats. To help combat this inequity, TOT Innovations will donate 20 convertible car seats to Seattle Children's Hospital and 20 convertible car seats to Oschner Hospital for families who need them .
